The best tea and coffee shops in Sélestat (or at least my favorites!)

by | Updated on 4/03/2023 | Cafes and tearooms | 0 comments

I am a fan of cosy tea rooms, where you can have a good tea or coffee with a piece of cake. I like to go there with friends or with my mother when she is in Alsace.

So I became an expert in finding good addresses! And I must say I was quite impressed in Sélestat: it’s a small town but there are some really original cafés! Here is my selection of the best cafés and tea rooms in Sélestat.

Libellule – Wonders, curiosities and delicacies

libellule-selestat

La Libellule is a special place in Sélestat: it is both a store and a café. In the store, lots of pretty creations from Emmanuelle, the owner of the place, who is passionate about sewing (she can also make what you want to measure by the way!). You can also find other small decorative objects, all exclusively made in France.

I started to discover the universe of Libellule on instagram and immediately wanted to go there… I was not disappointed, it’s so cute!

Small tables are set up in the middle of the store and it is possible to have a good tea with a home-made pastry. Perfect for a good time with friends!

I liked

  • Lovely store
  • Friendly welcome
  • Home made pastries

I liked less

  • Nothing!

Blue Line Coffee Gallery

Another amazing place! Galerie La Ligne Bleue is both a contemporary art gallery and a café, all located in a former 17th century granary and occupying a 250m2 space.

You can start by visiting the gallery part before entering the café part, which is a real Ali-Baba cave! The decor is busy, there are objects everywhere, but what a charm!

It is a pleasure to sit down and have a tea or a delicious fruit juice served with one of the cakes offered. The most difficult thing will be to choose, but we will describe them to you one by one with pleasure. A great original address in Sélestat!

I liked

  • Nice mix between contemporary art, antique objects and coffee
  • Good cakes
  • Pleasant atmosphere

I liked less

  • Nothing!

Tearoom of the House of Bread of Alsace

The Maison du Pain d’Alsace is an institution in Sélestat. It is a bakery with a demonstration bakery, a museum area and… a small tea room! Considering all the good things to taste at the Maison du Pain, we can only be delighted.

You can choose what you want to taste in the bakery area and then sit at the table with a hot or cold drink. The space is not huge but has been well designed and is therefore rather pleasant, even if it would benefit from being a little warmer. In any case, we enjoy it!

I liked

  • Delicious breads, cakes and cookies
  • Opportunity to talk to the bakers and watch their work
  • Tearoom area

I liked less

  • Tea room decor a little cold
