There are places for which you immediately fall in love: such is the case with l'Artisterie, a café, grocery store and boutique for local creators located in Mollkirch in the Vallée de la Magel (near the Vallée de la Bruche). I just had to share this address with you!

My summary

  • Trendy coffee shop in the countryside
  • Product quality, both in the restaurant and in the store
  • You feel good right away!
  • Perfect for a gourmet break when you’re out and about in the area.
  • Nothing!

An original location

L’Artisterie is an original place, as it is at once a café, a grocery store and a boutique selling local crafts , but also a place for sharing and exchange, where a variety of events are regularly organized (conferences, tasting of local products, yoga classes, creative workshops…).

I’m sure you’ve seen places like this before, combining gastronomy, art and culture. True, but this type of coffee shop is generally found in towns, and rather in fairly large towns at that. Except that L’Artisterie is located in the countryside, in the commune of Mollkirch, just before the entrance to Grendelbruch. Now that’s unusual!

At the head of the project is the bubbly Caroline, who has completely restored this beautiful red building (which dates back to the 1870s and once housed a farm inn) not only to live in, but also to turn it into the warm, modern place it is today, to the delight of customers.

The house is now divided into several areas:

  • a café and boutique area near the counter
  • a large room that can easily accommodate events,
  • but also a lovely, sheltered terrace on the side of the house.

It’s agreat place to take a gourmet break, especially as l’Artisterie is located on the edge of the 204 departmental road, which many of us pass regularly by car, bike, motorcycle or even on foot. All you have to do is stop and enjoy!

Coffee and snacks

The café offers breakfasts, pastries and snacks at lunchtime and on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as brunches at weekends. The menu includes platters, salads, burgers, poké bowls…all homemade. A real treat, even if you’re a vegetarian!

For my part, I recently tasted one of the best bowls of fromage blanc and granola of my life for a gourmet breakfast before setting off on a hike.

When it comes to beverages, you’ll get good coffee , as Caroline is a trained barista and carefully selects the coffee she buys. The same goes for all the drinks, in fact, which are as local as possible.

Designer boutique and grocery store

As well as taking a gourmet break, you can also do a little shopping at l’Artisterie. Here again, local products are in the spotlight, with a fine selection of both groceries and designer boutiques.

It’s full of pretty things, and I’ve added it to my list of stores to buy Christmas or birthday gifts. There’s nothing better than offering good, beautiful products that will make people happy, while supporting artisans and small businesses, isn’t there?

Ideas for nearby walks

Would you like to come to l’Artisterie and discover the area? I’ve fallen in love with Grendelbruch to the point of buying a little house and opening a B&B there, so I’m totally convinced. Here are a few ideas for walks nearby:
