Ascension Day, let’s go for an “Apéro gourmand chez le Vigneron”!

Every year, the Vignerons Indépendants organize an “apéro gourmand chez le vigneron” (gourmet aperitif at the winery) during the Ascension weekend. On this occasion, the participating wineries open their doors and offer a food and wine evening to those who registered.

I have tested the gourmet aperitif at Domaine Sylvie Spielmann in Bergheim, on the Alsace Wine Route. It is an excellent opportunity to discover a beautiful estate, to get acquainted with a passionate wine grower and to taste her delicious wines! On the menu that day, there was some Crémant d’Alsace served with savoury kouglof, Muscat, white Pinot Noir, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer. Every wine was paired with some food from the restaurant La Bacchante de Bergheim. Let me tell you, you will leave this aperitif having drunk and eaten well!

The concept is not only to taste food and wine, but also to learn more about the wines of Alsace and their secrets. Sylvie Spielmann is really great for this: she is really passionate and approachable and she knows how to simply transmit her knowledge. The perfect recipe to spend a great evening! Actually, I left at 22h30, 4 hours after arriving… Time flew by!

I liked

  • Learning more about the wines of Alsace thanks to the explanations from a passionate professional
  • Tasting high-quality wines
  • Good atmosphere

I liked a little less

  • Nothing!

Practical information

The price of the “Apéro gourmand chez le vigneron” is 15€ per person. It’s very reasonable with this quality of wine and food on offer.

“L’apéro gourmand chez le vigneron” happens at the end of the Friday of the Ascension weekend.

The list of participating wineries is published around March on the  website of the Vignerons Indépendants d’Alsace. You will then need to call to register.
