I know that many of you are looking for beautiful apartments and cottages to rent in Colmar… Good news, I found some great vacation rentals located in the center of Colmar! The Clos Bartholdi and its 4 apartments welcome you in an old building full of charm, just a step away from the Little Venice. You will be able to enjoy all the attractions of the beautiful Alsace Wine Capital on foot (read my ideas for visits in Colmarfor more information) and the Christmas market if you come at the end of the year.
The gîtes du Clos Bartholdi are located in a remarkably renovated 18th century Alsatian house with 3 floors and a basement converted into a lounge. Four apartments are available for rent: three studios that can accommodate 2 people (the Bartholdi Room, the Logis du Maréchal and the Turenne Apartment) and a duplex (Le Repère des Cigognes) that can accommodate between 2 and 4 people. In addition, a lounge area is available to all tenants. It is a beautiful and cozy space located in the basement with large sofas, armchairs, a bar and a library. Really cosy! It is even equipped with an Apple TV, in case you (already) want to look at the pictures of your vacations in Alsace…
Although located in the center of town, the Clos Bartholdi’s lodgings are quiet because they are located in a street with little traffic. Moreover, the view from the apartments is really nice, with beautiful half-timbered houses in Colmar.
Please note: except for the Bartholdi’s Room located on the first floor, the apartments are on the first floor and there is no elevator: it is therefore not ideal for people who have difficulties to climb stairs.
My apartment at the Clos Bartholdi
I tested for my part theTurenne Apartment, a pretty studio of 22m2 located on the 2nd floor of the house and really well arranged: it gave me the impression to have more space, everything is very well optimized!
The living room-bedroom area is well designed: the bed is located in an alcove, which still allows to separate the two areas. As for the living room itself, it has a sofa, a TV, a dining room table and a large armoire (a beautiful painted armoire typically Alsatian, I am a fan of it by the way!). Then we find a narrow kitchen, because all in length, but well equipped (I said kitchen, it is not a simple kitchenette as we see it sometimes in some studios) and finally a bathroom with shower.
All comfortable and decorated in an Alsatian style mixing ancient and modern touches: a real cosy little nest for a stay in Colmar, whether it is a vacation or a business trip. In addition, sheets and towels are provided.
My guide to Colmar

Location
As I mentioned in the introduction, the location of Le Clos Bartholdi is ideal: in the heart of the historic center of Colmar and close to all the attractions of the city. From the train station, it will take you only 10 minutes to walk to the apartment. By car, it is less easy because you will have to park outside the center (but this is almost always the case if you want to be located in the heart of the city center, mostly pedestrian).
I liked
- Very nice gites in Colmar
- Comfortable and well decorated apartments
- Ideal location in the heart of the historic center while being quiet
- View on the beautiful half-timbered houses of Colmar
I liked less
- Rather narrow kitchen
- Except for the smallest studio, you have to climb a staircase to access the apartments: good to know if you have difficulties to move!
