Les confitures du Climont are artisanal jams made in Alsace, in the Bruche Valley. Fabrice Krencker is at the head of the workshop and has been elected Best Jam Maker in France in 2010 by the Confrérie de la Marmite d’Or. It is well worth a visit and a tasting, isn’t it?
The workshop of Confitures de Climont is a bit isolated, but is definitely worth a detour for jam lovers. The scent, when arriving on the parking is already enticing… The jams are made only with sugar and fruits, nothing else. Most fruits are bought in season and then frozen, to be able to make jam all year long. It is possible to visit a small laboratory, where jams are made and to listen to very interesting explanations. You will even get some tips on how to make perfect jams at home!
It is then time for tasting! Les confitures du Climont offers more than 35 types of jams and jellies, that you can all taste. They are delicious. A jar costs between 6.50€ and 6.80€: it’s not cheap, but quality always has a cost.
My favorite? “Crufiture” (Raw jam). Yes, you have read correctly: crufiture is made with sugar and fruits dried in the sun. It is not cooked, but can also be easily preserved. The result is very tasty, with a very strong fruit taste. I bought jars of raspberry, rhubarb and elder flower crufiture. Absolutely sensational!
