It is not always easy to go and discover the Wine Route during your stay in Alsace: you don’t have a car, you don’t know which village to visit, where to have a wine tasting

The perfect solution to your questions and doubts could then very well be a guided tour. And even better, how about a private tour especially tailored to your wishes and needs! It is what Benoît, the manager of Magnific Escapades, offers. His idea? Offering tailor-made upscale excursions for his clients, which include most of the time a gastronomic and oenoligical discovery.

To try out an excursion, I spent a day on the Wine Route with Magnific Escapades, with a group of three Americans, who kindly accepted to let me join them. We started the day at their hotel in Strasbourg and followed this program:

  • Quick tour of Obernai
  • Visit of the Musée viticole Mémoire de Vignerons in Mittelbergheim (usually closed during the week, but open especially for Magnific Escapades)
  • Sampling of Alsace wines of very good quality with Michèle, the wine grower of the Maison Kreydenweiss, in the Museum of Viticulture
  • Lunch at Wistub du Sommelier in Bergheim (a great address!)
  • Walk in Colmar

This day trip was excellent, even if the weather wasn’t very clement on that day. The program is adapted in real-time to the client’s wishes (you would like to stay longer in a place? No problem, Benoît will adjust the program!). Thankfully, this is not one of these excursions where you have to run to get to a bus on time, when  you would like to wander a bit more…

All the stops during that day were of excellent quality. The wine chosen was delicious and unique (for example, we had the chance to taste the renowned Sylvaner Grand Cru Zotzenberg), the wine grower was really engaging and it was great that the wine museum was privatized just for us. Add to that the very comfortable vehicle and Benoît, a very friendly guide, passionate about his work and his region… and you will get a great day in Alsace!

You can ask Benoît to organize for you an excursion on the Alsace Wine Route, but also several days by bike, a trip to discover the regional gastronomy or an itinerary around the Alsatian cultural heritage… He can take care of you during a day, but also organize your stay in Alsace from A to Z. Everything is possible and you will just have to tell him what you wish for! And if you don’t really know what you want, he will be of very good advice and will offer you excellent suggestions. I have known Benoît for a while now and I have never seen him at a loss for ideas!

I liked

  • Real tailor-made itineraries
  • Great quality of the services offered
  • Benoît is passionate about Alsace and you can really see it!

I liked a little less

  • Nothing!
