Les Buissonnets farm-inn in Bourbach-le-Haut

Les Buissonnets is located in Bourbach-le-Haut, in the Hautes-Vosges of Alsace (south of the massif, not far from Mulhouse). For those who are not familiar with the concept of farmhouseit is a “place of restoration, with or without accommodation, arranged on a working farm. It is based on the combination of tourist activity and mountain agriculture”. The farm inns are an institution in Alsaceand particularly in the Haut-Rhin. On the occasion of a hike in the Vosges or simply for the meal itself, one comes to spend a good time with friends or family.

At the head of the farm-auberge des Buissonnets, Caroline and Baptiste, a nice couple installed in this farm since 2013 and both native of the area. On the farm, which can be visited on request, there are cows, goats, chickens and pigs. They produce eggs, meat and goat cheese that are only used at the farmhouse or sold directly. Products that do not come from the farm, such as cow’s milk cheese, are purchased from neighboring producers. You will only find local products in your plate!

I had pumpkin soup from the garden, smoked pork neck with fried potatoes and rhubarb meringue pie. Everything was very good (what a quality of meat!) and copious, only small disappointment on the pie (too creamy for my taste). The place is nice, with an interior room decorated with large cowbells and a beautiful terrace overlooking the surrounding beautiful mountain landscape. The farmhouse Les Buissonnets also offers accommodation and can therefore be used as a stopover gîte.

Note for riders: a tie bar is available. If you stay overnight, no worries either: the horses can be put in the meadow.
