Are you looking for an unusual accommodation in Alsace? The Traits Anes farm in Mitzach, in the Saint-Amarin Valley (Haut-Rhin) offers a gypsy caravan, a yurt and a bubble which are installed in the green natural setting of the High Vosges of Alsace. I tested the caravan, I tell you?

I discovered the Traits Ânes Farm because I was participating in a trail in the Thur Valley and was looking for an accommodation not far from the start of the race. And while we’re at it, we might as well take advantage of it to try out a nice place to live, right?

Gîtes and unusual accommodation in Alsace

Traits Ane farm offers for rent two cottages as well as three unusual accommodations: a yurt, a trailer and a bubble. All the accommodations are set in greenery with animals in the vicinity (including the farm’s donkeys and draft horses, of course!), and even a view of the surrounding mountains for some. The setting is pleasant, we take a good breath of air directly when arriving!

Good to know for the riders, the farm Traits Ane is also labelled equestrian lodging which can thus accomodate you with your horses!

My trailer at Traits Anes

I slept in the Kuenbach’s trailer. It was not the first time I slept in a trailer because I already did a few days of roaming in a horse trailer (yes!), but the trailer of Traits Anes is much more spacious than the one I had. The interior is 3 meters wide, it’s big. I didn’t expect it to be so comfortable, actually!

It can sleep four people because it has three beds: a double bed and two single beds. In addition, there is an equipped kitchenette and a bathroom. It is possible to rent the caravan all year round since it has electric heating. We spent a pleasant evening there and slept very well.

The little extras

Traits Anes offers additional services such as breakfast and dinner in a Finnish kota, but also an outdoor hot tub session, access to an above-ground pool in season and even massages and relaxing treatments. I passed by a little too quickly and didn’t have time to test it, but it looks nice!

Depending on the season, you can also book carriage rides with the farm’s draft horses and donkey rides. This is definitely something the whole family can enjoy!

Location

Mitzach is located in the Valley of Saint-Amarin, that is to say the high part of the valley of the Thur. A magnificent setting for those who like to walk in the mountains: there are plenty of hiking trails and beautiful panoramas to admire along the way, I really like this area! Here are some ideas of activities I can recommend in the area:

I liked

  • Unusual accommodations
  • Comfortable trailer
  • Friendly welcome
  • Natural setting and animals
  • Labelled equestrian gîte

I liked a little less

  • Don’t rely too much on the wifi 😉
