Les Fermes de Pinpin: a funny name, don’t you think? Pinpin is in fact the nickname of the owner of the place since he was little. What could be more natural, then, than to call its lodgings so? The Pinpin farms are quite exceptional lodgings, located between the villages of Orbey and Labaroche, on the heights of the Kaysersberg Valley. The location is really incredible as the farms are located in the middle of nature and have a splendid view of the valley. If you are looking for a place to spend a relaxing weekend, this is the place to be!
At the moment there are four cottages at the Pinpin Farms: the first one is located on the second floor of the main building (“La Grange à foin”), the second one in a nice little house called “La Fermette”, the third one in another building (“Le Grenier”) and the fourth one is a troglodyte house. All of them have their own personality but are equally charming. I must say that the site itself is already quite magical: I had the impression of arriving in a small hidden paradise, and all the more so as Guy and Daniel’s welcome is really warm!
Whether you choose one or the other, you will be able to enjoy the swimming pool and its superb view as well as the summer lounge. We bet you won’t want to leave again? 😉
Gîte La Grange à foin
La Grange à foin is a large gîte on two floors that can accommodate 5 adults (2 real bedrooms plus a bed on the mezzanine) and 4 children. Not necessarily huge in number of people that can be accommodated but huge in surface per person: you will not step on it, that’s the least we can say… Everyone can even have their own sofa! The living room is huge and decorated in a rather indescribable but very successful style. A sort of chalet atmosphere revisited in a Pinpin style, with furniture found here and there. The volumes are superb, the equipment very complete and the view on the mountain from the balcony simply incredible… The kind of place where you can easily spend a weekend without going out, reading, watching DVDs and having a drink! The pictures speak for themselves, don’t they?
Gîte La Fermette
La Fermette is a small gîte that can accommodate 2 people. This is the one I chose to sleep in. The atmosphere is very different here, the Fermette is decorated in a rustic style, which suits it very well. It is a real cocoon full of charm where it is good to nestle and disconnect from the rest of the world! The farmhouse has a fireplace and a private terrace, so you will be comfortable in all seasons. I have to say that this is my favorite!
Gîte Le Grenier
Le Grenier is a magnificent gîte that can accommodate 5 people. It has very nice volumes and a view on the greenery. A bit like the Hay Barn, but with a little something extra in my opinion… Perhaps it was the bay window installed on the gable overlooking the living room that had this effect on me. Comfortable, well decorated, with an impressive space… This place is quite magical!
Unusual lodging: the troglodyte house
The Troglodyte House is an unusual gite that can accommodate 2 people. This house is on the side of a rock: one should not imagine a cave but rather a lodging nested in the rock by the back, top and sides. It is not at all dark, on the contrary, since a large bay window has been installed on the front of the gite. It’s a real little cocoon with a magnificent view of the mountains, I really loved staying there! Perfect for a romantic weekend by the fire (yes, there is a wood stove!) 🙂
Breakfast
Breakfast is not normally provided but is available upon request. You will then have a good breakfast, with organic bread, homemade jams, fresh fruits, homemade apple juice… In short, you will enjoy it!
Location
Les Fermes de Pinpin are very well located. They are in a green setting, quiet, while being close to the Wine Route and the various attractions of the Vosges, and in particular to the Lac Blanc resort. Kaysersberg, for example, is a 20-minute drive away.
I liked
- Incredible quiet location
- Gites full of charm
- Warm welcome from the owners
- Pool with view
- No waves in the cave house
I liked less
- The wifi doesn’t work well (but maybe it’s a plus to disconnect?)
