Le Gîte des Histoires – Four charming gites in Kientzheim (Kaysersberg)

The Gîte des Histoires is located in Kientzheim, a village on the Alsace Wine Route which is now part of the commune of Kaysersberg-Vignoble (Kientzheim is the neighboring village of Kaysersberg). They areold Alsatian buildings located in the heart of the village and have been completely renovated by their friendly and dynamic owner. Camille fell in love with the place and decided to start the adventure.

A year and a half later, the Gîte des Histoires opened its doors. What energy it must have taken! We become aware of this by looking at photos of the house before and the result after …. It’s impressive! And a few years later, she did it again with the second house! These charming gîtes are remarkably well done, looking brand new but with the charm of the old (the exposed beams for example have been nicely highlighted!).

The Gîtes des Histoires

The Gîte des Histoires actually hosts 4 gîtes: the Cigogne for 2 people (47m2), the Vin for 4 people (65m2), the Château for 8 people (130m2) and the Gourmand for 8 people (160m2). The first three are located in the same house but are independent, and the Gourmand is located in the house next door. I slept in the gîte le Vin but was able to visit others: I really loved the decoration, both modern and sprinkled with nice little Alsatian touches. Everything I like!

The bedding is very comfortable and sheets and towels are provided. Beds are made up on arrival. Except for the washing machine which is shared, each gite is totally autonomous in terms of equipment: living room, fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, induction cooker, Senseo machine… and even raclette machine or waffle maker!), bathroom (with infrared sauna for the two big gites), etc…

The Caveau, a large room with big sofas, a pool table, a TV and various board games (and a nice little terrace!) is common to all the gîtes.

Location

The Gîte des Histoires is remarkably well located: Kientzheim (not to be confused with Kintzheim!) is a charming village on the Alsace Wine Route, Kaysersberg (yes, the favorite village of the French in 2017!) is the neighboring village, Colmar is close by (20 minutes), the Vosges also (the Lac Blanc is 30 minutes away).

You are here in the center of Alsace and can therefore reach all places of interest easily: you won’t get bored! 😉 You just need to have a car otherwise it will be too complicated.

I liked

  • Charming gîtes in a beautiful Alsatian building
  • Equipment of the lodgings and common room
  • Fairly ideal location
  • Very friendly owner

I liked less

  • Jump into the Gourmand, you share a building: if your neighbors are noisy, you could hear them
