Gîtes Griotte et Cannelle – Charming apartments in Bergbieten

by | Mar 1, 2023 | Gîtes (cottage rentals and refuges), Wine route | 0 comments

The Gîtes Griotte et Cannelle are located in Bergbieten, a village on the Alsace Wine Road located at 27km from Strasbourg. We are here in the northern part of the Wine Route, in the vineyard of the Golden Crown. A part a little less known although it is also beautiful! There are lovely little Alsatian villages with beautiful half-timbered houses nestled in the vineyards, and Bergbieten is one of them. The Griotte and Cannelle gîtes are located in the heart of the village, in an old Alsatian farmhouse that was partially destroyed during the Second World War and then rebuilt. Marion and Yannick had a crush on this place, they decided to settle there and to renovate the outbuildings to make gites and welcome visitors.

Charming gites for 2 to 4 people

Griotte et Cannelle has 4 gîtes: the stable, the wine press, the gable and the attic, all of which are between 45 and 80m2 and can accommodate between 2 and 4 people. Some are duplexes and others are on one level. They are all located around the farmyard, as is the owners’ house. Some spaces are shared: a mini swimming pool has been installed (you can’t swim in it, but it must be nice to swim in it during the summer months, as the Alsatian heat can sometimes be a bit hard to bear!), as well as a nice terrace.

The gîtes are really tastefully decorated and comfortable: they are charming gites! I slept in the gîte Les Combles, a real cosy nest. Traditional Alsatian elements have been preserved (beams, furniture…) while bringing a resolutely modern touch. I must admit that this is really my favorite and the marriage of the two is very successful in this case! The equipment is very complete (dishwasher, oven, microwave, Nespresso machine, DVD player, etc.). There is just no washing machine in all the gîtes, but there is a laundry room and it is possible to wash clothes on request. The bedding and sheets are of excellent quality.

Marion offers packages including for example accommodation and spa. There is no spa on site but there is a hot spring and spa only 10 minutes away, the Sulzbad. Don’t hesitate to ask for more information!

Location

I mentioned earlier, Bergbieten is a village located in the north of the Wine Route, 27km from Strasbourg and 20km from Obernai. The location is really nice because it allows you to enjoy the city as well as the vineyard! You can even go on foot to do some wine tasting (in moderation, of course!) 😉 Finally, the Vosges are not far either…

I liked

  • Lovely, well-equipped and comfortable gîtes
  • Terrace and mini-pool
  • Bicycle loan
  • Friendly welcome
  • Pretty village on the Wine Route and close to Strasbourg

I liked less

  • Nearby church, whose bell rings even during the night
