The brewery of Saint-Louis is an artisanal brewery located, as its name may suggest, in the village of Saint-Louis, in the South of Alsace (at the border with Basel in Switzerland). The brewery of Saint-Louis opens its doors every first Saturdays of the month.
The guided tour starts with the brewery in itself and is led by the brewer. He will show you the different ingredients used to produce beer, the different stages for making beer, the choices to make depending on the type of beer you wish to produce… His explanations are really clear and interesting. You can see that he is really passionate about his job, and it is really nice to see. I was impressed by all the possibilities a brewer has during production. Wine better behaves itself, beer seems to be equally complex!
After the tour, comes the time of tasting in the shop. This is a very generous tasting, as you will be able to taste just about every beer of Saint-Louis from the shop. A blond, an amber, a stout, an India pale ale, a Sencha tea ale, a pumpkin beer… There is something for every taste!
- The very interesting explanations from the brewer
- A very varied beer tasting
I liked a little less
- There is not much to see: vats and the bottling chain (which is not working on Saturdays)
