Hôtel Bio & Spa La Clairière in La Petite Pierre

For my birthday, my husband offered me one night and one day at the hotel La Clairière in La Petite Pierre, where I’ve been wanting to go for a long time. I’ve already told you about La Petite Pierre, this small village located in the Northern Vosges regional nature park. It’s a magnificent and relaxing natural setting, perfect for a romantic break.

But what is a hotel bio, what does it exactly mean? I must admit that I was quite intrigued by the name of “Bio hotel”, wondering what was behind this name and if it was just a marketing stunt. But the reality is that of a true approach in favour of ecology and organic production and agriculture. The restaurant of La Clairière has for example been the first hotel-restaurant in France to be certified as organic. The rooms are equipped with natural latex and organic cotton and wool bed linens. Moreover, I have noted several interesting initiatives during my stay: waste sorting in the hotel room, the fact that heating automatically shuts off when the window is open or the absence of disposable toiletries. Beyond that, La Clairière is taking part in a global approach for well-being, by offering for example yoga or meditation classes, food and drinks respecting Ayurveda principles and of course, a spa. Even at the hotel bar, in the British pub, you’ll find fresh fruit juices and wellbeing cocktails…

The hotel decoration is a bit surprising, because it’s very varied from one place to the next: a lounge with bright colours, a British pub-themed bar, very classic rooms… it lacks a bit of harmony.

My room at the hotel La Clairière

We stayed in a comfort room, which was very pleasant: a big bed, a sofa, a coffee table, a desk, a balcony, a bathroom with shower… It was very confortable and quite prettily decorated, in a classic style.

The breakfast at La Clairière is excellent. It is served as a buffet with a lot of choices, but everything is of good quality. Fresh fruit juices, homemade cakes, vegetables, muesli, dried and fresh fruits, eggs, dairy produce… it will only be hard to choose! There are also many vegan options on the menu. As for the prices, it’s quite high (but included in some packages), so only take it if you are very hungry (we had it as a brunch!).

The restaurant at La Clairière

The restaurant at La Clairière offers almost exclusively organic products. The place is pleasant and the food is very good. It’s nothing extremely original and the menu selection is quite limited, but everything is of good quality. We enjoyed our meal, which was included in our extra “Vitality package” (with also a very nice possibility with the three courses included can be taken in the two menus offered and combined). Good news for vegetarians: there is a full vegetarian menu. The only disappointing problem was the service quality: it was very badly organised when I was there!

Spa at La Clairière

Please have a look at my complete article about the spa at La Clairière to know more (soon online).

Located in the heart of the Northern Vosges Regional Nature park, the hotel La Clairière is surrounded by nature! It’s an ideal location for a wellness weekend in Alsace.

I liked

  • The location at the heart of nature
  • A comfortable room
  • A nice spa

I liked a little less

  • The service at the restaurant
  • Decoration is lacking a bit of harmony in the styling for my taste
