I discovered Le Chambard in Kaysersberg, a very famous Alsatian village not far from Colmar, with a very good plan for a romantic getaway: the “Stay” formula of the Etoiles d’Alsace. We enjoyed a Chambard room, the entry level of this superb 5* hotel , part of the Relais & Châteaux. Attention, it is a five stars, the service is very professional but not stuffy. We are made to feel very comfortable from the moment we arrive with a great conviviality!
The hotel is equipped with a nice spa with a shimmering decoration (turquoise blue, orange…) with a small indoor pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna and a hammam and a range of treatments / modelling that I had great pleasure in testing.
The Chambard is one of the most famous hotels in Alsace. And for good reason: Olivier Nasti, its owner, is also a double starred Alsatian chef for his restaurant La Table d’Olivier Nasti (I had the opportunity to try his signature dish, the 64° egg, a few years ago and what a treat!) For this escapade, we opted for the Winstub for dinner: a traditional decoration but without being kitsch (we remind you the number of stars?). Everyone has a small napkin ring with the name of an Alsatian “ancestor”. The quality of the food is naturally there, as well as the relaxed, warm and very professional welcome.
In the morning, breakfast is also served in the winstub. Local products are obviously the stars: cold cuts, cheeses, Christine Ferber’s jams, kouglof, rolls, fruit salad, fresh cheese… Impossible to taste everything! Of the blow, one could leave with the jam and the kouglof. At our departure, a small gift awaits us: a terrine from Chef Nasti, as well as a bottle of local water in case we get thirsty on the way back.
In short, nothing to say, a perfect moment!
