Hotel Etc in Strasbourg – Great location and good value!

I know that you like to find good deals for accommodation when you come to Alsace… So I have found one just for you in Strasbourg! It’s the Hotel Etc in Strasbourg, a 2-star hotel located right in the city centre, on the Grande Île. It’s a very simple hotel, but I’m writing about it, because its location is amazing, its decoration is way nicer than usual chain hotels and because of its very good value. Prices can be very high in the city centre of Strasbourg, but it’s always nice to find an ideal location, without paying too much… so here is the perfect solution!

The rooms of the Etc Hotel in Strasbourg are all decorated differently on themes such as stone, wood, pebbles… The name of each room reflects the interior decoration. As for me, I tried the Stone room, and that’s the one you can see on the pictures: it’s a bit cold to my taste, but still quite elegant. The room is of standard size, with a small bathroom (a small shower room actually) and separate toilets. It’s quite good for the price! And on top of that, the bed was very confortable.

The hotel doesn’t only have double rooms, and you’ll also be able to book single, triple and quadruple rooms! So it can actually be quite low-price…

The hotel as a whole is a bit dark, as it’s set back from the street, but it’s also an advantage, not to have too much noise. The common rooms are also decorated with taste.

The breakfast is simple, but quite full: different kinds of breads, pastries, yogurts, fruit salad, cereals and even a bit of cheese and ham. The jams offered are the excellent Confitures du Climont, produced in Alsace and that have received several awards!

The location of the Hotel Etc is really ideal. It is located on the Grande Île of Strasbourg, just a few minutes on foot from the cathedral, the Petite France and Place Kléber. It’s would be hard to find a better location, especially as it’s also pretty quiet. It is a little bit set back from the street, which is ideal.

I liked

  • Location right in the city centre of Strasbourg
  • Very good value
  • Different decoration in each room
  • Single, double, triple and quadruple rooms

I liked a little less

  • A bit dark
  • Several floors and no elevator

Getting here

By car

The address is as follows: 7 rue de la Chaîne 67000 Strasbourg.

It’s not easy to park nearby, the Grande Île of Strasbourg being almost entirely pedestrian. The closest paid parkings are Gutenberg and Kléber (but it costs 44€ for 24h!), and then Austerlitz (20€ for 24h) is 10 minutes on foot. Otherwise, I would advise you to leave your car at a park-and-ride station (between 4 and 5€ for a day), and then to take a tram to get to town: it’s super quick. More information here about park-and-ride stations.

By public transport

Tram A or D, station « Grand Rue » (3 stations from the train station; it’s very quick).
