Fleur et Fruit de Vigne in Rodern – Charming hotel with spa (and gîte)

The Hôtel Fleur et Fruit de Vigne is located in the pretty little village of Rodern, on the Alsace Wine Route. I had the pleasure to discover it thanks to a follower of the blog who recommended the owners, Lucie and Bernard, to contact me! I am really stoked I got to know this wonderful place, which is a hotel, as well as a gîte.

The rooms of Fleur et Fruit de Vigne are set in a former wine farm from the 16th century, at the heart of the village. Past the large heavy door, you’ll discover a lovely courtyard flanked by old and beautifully renovated buildings. It must be quite nice to linger around in summer time… You’ll actually be spoilt for choice, as the terrace near the pool is also a good option! The place is huge… you could almost get lost!

Fleur et Fruit de Vigne have quite incredible common areas. There is, first of all, a relaxation area: two adjoining living rooms, to relax near a stove, while having a drink (drinks are at your disposal, you’ll just have to pay in a petty-cash fund) or to play pool or table football while listening to music chosen on the jukebox! Splendid.

There is also a very beautiful wellness area. You can indeed have access to a spa with a sauna, a hammam, a balneotherapy bathtub, a massage room (massages can be booked in avance), a rest area and outside, a jacuzzi and a heated pool. Everything is modern, well-arranged and very pleasant. It’s quite spectacular!

My room at Fleur et Fruit de Vigne

Depending on the buildings, the rooms have very different styles, as you’ll see on the pictures, but they are all very pretty, of good size, well equipped and confortable. As for me, I slept in the room Colombages, a huge room of 50m2 with superb exposed beams and decorated in a traditional and elegant manner. I don’t think I ever saw such a big bathroom. I slept very well, in a very confortable bed.

Most rooms are located on the first floor and it’s therefore necessary to climb up one floor to get there. However, please note that there is one room adapted for people with reduced mobility (PMR), located on the ground floor of the building and as pretty as the other ones. It’s good to know. ☺

Breakfast served at Fleurs et Fruits de Vigne is buffet-style. However, it’s a very qualitative buffet with countless local and organic products. You’ll find a selection of organic fruit juice, homemade jams, Ribeauvillé cheeses, charcuterie, varied grain breads, homemade compotes and cakes, a huge selection of Jardins de Gaïa teas… and let’s not forget eggs upon request. What a treat was my omelette with small mushrooms and herbs! It was excellent!

Dinner at Fleur et Fruit de Vigne

Dinner is offered in the evenings, for the greatest pleasure of customers, who can have a sit in the splendid stone vault to savour good Alsatian dishes. As a starter, I tried a tasty and generous assortment of delicacies showcasing the trouts from a farm in Orbey (a few kilometers away), a tourte vigneronne (a typically Alsatian dish, that was also served generously!) and finally a chocolate mousse. Excellent!

Fleurs et Fruits de Vigne is located on the Alsace Wine Route, in the village of Rodern. Rodern is not a very touristy village, but it’s very cute: with beautiful wine farms and half-timbered houses, it is typically Alsatian. It is located a few minutes away by car from Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr and from Haut-Koenigsbourg castle, only 25 minutes from Colmar and 40 minutes from Strasbourg, making it a prime location on the Wine Route. However, don’t expect a very lively village: it’s very calm… and it’s pleasant just like that!

I liked

  • A beautiful old Alsatian farm
  • Spacious and confortable rooms
  • Remarkable living rooms and spa
  • Delicious dinner and breakfast with a lot of local products

I liked a little less

  • You’ll have to park in the village (it’s easy, but it’s good to know!)
  • WiFi is not the best
