Organic and vegetarian restaurants in Mulhouse

Looking to eat organic, vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free food in Mulhouse? Here is a short list of restaurants that you might find interesting.

Foodlink – Vegan restaurant

FoodLink, located in downtown Mulhouse, defines itself as a “100% vegetal fast-good”. I like this definition, which gives you an idea of what you’ll find there! On the menu are wraps, salads, soups, pressed fruit juices and desserts that are entirely vegan, which can be eaten on the spot or to take away. Simple but good food! People with a gluten-free diet will also easily find what they are looking for. Everything is homemade from mostly organic products from their own gardens or from local producers. Yes, their gardens: Foodlink has 8,000m2 of gardens cultivated according to permaculture principles. Isn’t that great?

I liked

  • Vegan, organic and local
  • Many products from their gardens
  • Home-made French fries 🙂

I liked a little less

  • Small restaurant: arrive early or think about taking away!

Practical information

Mains are less than 10€.

Biofresh -Organic, vegan and gluten-free restaurant

Biofresh restaurant is located in Mulhouse town center. It is a very special restaurant, as it only offers organic, vegan and gluten-free dishes. It has the label “Organic agriculture”.

But what can we eat there? You’ll mostly find on the menu vegetables in different forms. It’s quite disconcerting when you are not used to it. I must admit I didn’t know what to choose among all possible combinations. Even more so because Biofresh offers a cooked and a raw menu and each one is very (too?) long. Choosing the raw menu doesn’t mean you’ll eat cold soup, as dishes are sometimes heated at very low temperature to be hot, without being cooked and therefore keeping the vitamins in the food.

The verdict? I went twice and I’ll probably go back. Each time, I very much enjoyed the two starters and dishes I got, which were simple but tasty. I’m a bit more reserved about the desserts. People used to this diet say that they are very good, but I wasn’t convinced.

The setting is also very pleasant and the service is alright, even though sometimes a bit long. Remember to book as Biofresh gets packed at lunch!

I liked

  • Simple but tasty food
  • “Organic agriculture” label
  • Pleasant room

I liked a little less

  • When you are not used to eat vegan and gluten-free food, some dishes might seem a bit bland. You’ll have to taste for yourself!

Practical information

Mains are between 10 and 15€

La Tambouille de Nainbus – Vegetarian restaurant

La Tambouille de Nainbus is a vegetarian restaurant located at the heart of Mulhouse town center. It mostly uses organic products. It’s a soup bar, but that’s not the only food you’ll find there!

At La Tambouille de Nainbus, you order at the counter and then take a seat. There are different menus: soup, main and dessert; soup and main; main and dessert or à la carte. Everyday, there are about 3 different soups, 2 mains and 4 desserts. It changes all the time, which is quite nice. I ate very well there and enjoyed the soup, the main, as well as the dessert.

Atmosphere-wise, the room is not very big and tables are quite close together. I found the place a bit cold and I was hoping for a nicer setting. La Tambouille de Nainbus has however a very nice terrace, perfect for summer!

I liked

  • Good food with many organic products
  • Pretty terrace in summer
  • Good value

I liked a little less

  • Cold setting
  • Closed in the evenings

Practical information

Mains cost less than 10€.
