Ottmarsheim Christmas market

Ottmarsheim is a small Alsatian town close to the German border, not far from MulhouseOttmarsheim Christmas market is an original christmas market because it is called the”Christmas market of Museums and Creators”. Indeed, they put the emphasis on regional museums, which all have their own, as well as on local creators. Needless to say, this results in a very good market! It is not huge, but is worth the visit. Personally, I really liked it!

The setting is also very pleasant. The buildings (including the beautiful church Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul, an old abbey) are very well illuminated, creating quite a magical atmosphere. There is quite a few people, but it is nothing like the usual crowd of more famous Christmas markets, which is actually very nice.

There are activities for children (Father Christmas, sledge with a reindeer,…) and for adults (initiation to glass-blowing, concerts…). I went to a great free concert of Christmas carols in Ottmarsheim Church.

I liked

  • Very pretty market
  • A unique and great theme of “Museums and creators”
  • A concert in Ottmarsheim Church

I liked a little less

  • Nothing!
