I know that many of you are looking for beautiful and charming apartments and gîte to rent in Colmar… I’ve got good news for you… I found superb holiday rentals located right in the centre of Colmar! Le Clos Bartholdi, with its 4 apartments welcomes you in an old building full of charm, a few steps away from the Petite Venise. You will therefore be able to enjoy on foot all the attractions of the beautiful Alsace Wine Capital (read my ideas of things to do and see in Colmar to know more) and of the Christmas market, if you come at the end of the year.

The gîtes of the Clos Bartholdi are located in an Alsatian house from the 18th century, which was remarkably renovated and includes 3 floors, as well as a basement converted as a lounge. There are four apartments for rent: three studios that can host 2 persons (“La Chambre de Bartholdi”,” Le Logis du Maréchal” and “L’Appartement Turenne”) and a duplex (“Le Repère des Cigognes”) which can host between 2 and 4 persons. In addition, there is a lounge area available for all guests. It’s a beautiful and warm space located in the basement, furnished with large couches, armchairs, a bar and a library. It’s truly comfy! It is even equipped with an Apple TV, in case you would (already) like to look at the pictures of your holidays in Alsace

Even though it is located right in the town centre, the gîte of the Clos bartholdi is very quiet, as it is in a quiet street far away from the hustle and bustle of the centre. The view from the apartments is very pretty, over beautiful Alsatian half-timbered houses.

To be noted: apart fom the Bartholdi room located on the ground floor, apartments are all located on other floors, with no elevator, which might not be ideal for people having some difficulty climbing stairs.

My apartment at the Clos Bartholdi

As for me, I stayed in the Apartement Turenne, a pretty 22m2 studio located on the second floor of the house, which was really well-arranged: it looked as if it had more space and everything was very well optimized!

The lounge-room area is very well-designed: the bed in an alcove allow for some separation between the two areas. As for the living room in itself, it has a couch, a TV, a dining room table and a large wardrobe (a magnificent typically Alsatian painted wardrobe that I absolutely love!). You’ll also find a narrow and well-equipped kitchen (it’s a real kitchen and not just a kitchenette, as you might see in some studios) and finally a bathroom with shower.

Everything is confortable and decorated in an Alsatian style mixing old and new notes: it’s a true little cosy nest for a stay in Colmar, whether for holidays or for a business trip. Moreover, linens and towels are supplied.

Location

I had already mentioned in the introduction, that the location of the Clos Bartholdi was ideal: right in the historical centre of Colmar and a few steps away from all the town attractions. From the train station, it will only take about 10 minutes on foot to get to the apartment. By car, it won’t be as easy, as you’ll have to park outside the town centre (but it almost always the case if you want to stay in the heart of the town centre, which is mainly pedestrian).

I liked

  • Very beautiful charming gîte in Colmar
  • Confortable and well-decorated apartments
  • An ideal location in the heart of the town centre, but very quiet
  • View over beautiful half-timbered houses in Colmar

I liked a little less

  • A very narrow kitchen
  • Apart from the small studio, you’ll have to climb stairs to get to the apartments: it’s good to know if you have some difficulty moving around!
