I have discovered by chance the Domaine de la Léonardsau, while I was coming to Obernai (Saint-Léonard), at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile, to visit Spindler Art Marquetry. The place looked stunning and I decided to have a look after my tour.
This was a great idea and I got to discover a beautiful, but unknown place. The domaine de la Léonardsau is made up of a castle and of a park of 9 hectares. The castle is unfortunately closed, but there are some projects to rehabilitate it as a place for exhibitions. You can only admire it from outside for now, which is already quite good, because of the beauty and originality of the building. The park is open to the public and it is possible to walk around freely.
During a slightly hazy fall day, my walk was nonetheless very pleasant. The domaine de la Léonardsau is a true peace haven! It’s exactly the type of garden that I prefer: structured, but not too much, leaving space for the natural beauty of the landscapes. During a beautiful summer day, it would be perfect to lounge around one of its big lawns with a book or for a family picnic.
- The beauty of the castle and the park
- The peacefulness of the estate
I liked a little less
- Closed castle
