Here is the itinerary for a pretty hike around Saverne, that I did in July with the Club Vosgien. You will be able to admire beautiful castle ruins (the highlight being Haut-Barr Castle) and superb panoramic views over the neighboring summits of the Vosges, as well as over the Alsace plains.

The main stops of this hike are: Greifenstein Castle->Saint-Vit Cave->Rappenfels->Stambach->Krappenfels->Brotsch Tower->Petit Geroldseck->Grand Geroldseck->Haut-Barr.

The hiking path winds through the forest, regularly opening onto beautiful viewpoints from Greifenstein castle tower, Saint-Vit cave, Brotsch Tower or Haut-Barr.

Saint-Vit Cave is an interesting place. In addition to the cave, you can admire a pretty Alpine garden and beautiful views over Haut-Barr Castle.

The last stop of the hike, the Haut-Barr Castle in Saverne is really worth a visit. It is possible to climb the Devil’s Bridge, built in between two impressive rocky spurs and from which the view is spectacular (see picture above).

The path is marked out by the Club Vosgien, but the IGN map is essential to have as well! You can print it below, if you would like to do this itinerary. Remember to zoom in to see the details of the paths to follow.
