Kaysersberg Christmas market is one of my favorite Christmas market in Alsace. I am already completely in love with this adorable village of the Alsace Wine Route on a normal day, but Christmas times give it an additional charm. I love wandering the cobblestone streets, all the while admiring the illuminated façades and diving into the Christmas spirit while walking among the chalets and then stopping to drink a mulled wine on the town hall square.

The official Christmas markets of Kaysersberg are:

  • the authentic Christmas market, with products exclusively made in France and carefully selected. It takes place on Cour de l’Arsenal (behind the tourist office) and behind Eglise Sainte-Croix Church.
  • the Farmer’s Christmas market, where you will find booths of producers of the Valley of Kaysersberg. It takes place on the town hall square.

There are also other “private” Christmas markets, organized by some Kayersberg traders. I would not recommend them, as they offer products that have nothing to do with Alsatian Christmas Markets (made in China objects, products coming from Savoie, Ardèche…). I do not appreciate when greed trumps over authenticity and tradition. There, I said it!

Not to be missed at Kaysersberg Christmas market

Besides the authentic and the farmer’s christmas markets, there are a couple of things not to be missed:

  • Exhibition in the “Salle de l’Arsenal”
  • For game lovers, the treasure hunt: walk around Kaysersberg to find clues and receive a small reward at the end.
  • On Fridays at 5 pm, the Tourist Office offers mulled wine and bredele! It happens in front of the chalet of the Tourist Office on the town hall square.

My favorite Christmas addresses in Kaysersberg

The best mulled wine of Kayersberg Christmas market

I was thriller by the organic honey mulled wine served on the Farmer’s market (at the back, near the town hall. There is a sign, so you will not miss it). A real treat that you should try out!

If you get tired of mulled wine, why not try… elixirs.

Elixirs are a mix of hot fruit juices and brandy. It’s delicious! Just don’t drink too much if you are driving afterwards, as it’s a bit strong. You can also order them without alcohol. You will find them at the booth Jus d’Antoine, in front of the Tourist Office Chalet.

To buy tasty gingerbread

The booth of the apiculturist Olivier Gotorbe offers delicious organic ultra-moist gingerbread. As it is exclusively made with honey and no sugar, it tastes much better…

To buy bredele or to take a break

Bredele are small biscuits, typical from Alsace and usually made around Christmas. You can find them at the bakery L’Enfariné. You can also take a break there, as L’Enfariné has a few tables to sit down.

To buy artisanal Christmas decorations

Have a look in the pretty shop le Grenier Enchanté or on their booth in the authentic Christmas market.

You can also learn how to make an Advent wreath during an Advent wreath workshop at Brindilles et Pom de pin.

You can find other good addresses on my article about Kaysersberg.

I liked

  • The authentic Chrismas market offering only French products
  • The Farmer’s Christmas market to taste delicious local products!
  • The beauty of the town and its decorations

I liked a little less

  • “Private” Christmas markets, which are much less authentic
  • There is a lot of people during weekends
