Ribeauvillé Christmas market is a unique Christmas market, as it has a medieval theme. Ribeauvillé does things very well: you really dive into a medieval atmosphere throughout the market and there are numerous activities offered to visitors. Moreover, the town is beautifully decorated and there are various activities for visitors. The town is also beautifully decorated. It’s a really unique market in Alsace!
Ribeauvillé medieval Christmas market attracts a lot of people. It has already discouraged me, but it is still worth it: it is huge, with a lot of pretty stalls and a lot of activities. There are quite good for adults and actually absolutely amazing for children. You will definitely not get bored, there is so much to do and see!
Even if I usually advise to visit Christmas markets at night to enjoy the enchanting atmosphere of illuminated Alsatian towns, I would recommend this time to go in the morning. There is already a lot of people, but it is alright and you will be able to really enjoy the market and its activities, which is a bit more difficult in the afternoon.
Not to be missed at Ribeauvillé Christmas market
Generally speaking, all activities ongoing on the Christmas market are interesting. My only recommendation would be to walk around the market… you will necessarily find something, as there are a lot of activities!
For children, have a wander around the market zone called “Royaume des Lutins”, where there are a lot of activities for them. A little break on Santa’s lap and a ride on a toboggan are also quite nice (at the beginning of the market, on the right of Grand Rue).
My favorite Christmas addresses in Ribeauvillé
The best mulled wine at Ribeauvillé Christmas market
After asking around and doing some tastings, the clear winner is the stall “La delirium tribu”, located right in front of Ribeauvillé’s pharmacy. It’s impossible to miss it, as the people at the stand are talking very loudly to make their stall known! Humor and good wine, what else do you need!
For a different drink: Elixirs
To try something different than mulled wine, try and taste some elixirs at the stall of the Jus d’Antoine. I had already told you about it in my article about Kayersberg Christmas Market, as I really love these mixes of fruit juices and brandys!
The best apple juice on the Christmas market
Delicious and not so expensive, I’d recommend you to taste the freshly pressed apple juice on the big square where there is Ribeauvillé town hall. It’s impossible to miss it, as the press is quite big. It’s impossible to find fresher apple juice…
To taste good sweet Alsatian specialties
Go at Gilg stall (or at the shop just next to it), located on the left of Grand Rue, facing the Café de la Poste. Gilg is an excellent Alsatian pastry chef. I already told you about it in my articles about the best pâtisseries of Colmar and the best kouglof of Colmar. You will be able to buy there Kouglof, Mannalas, Bredele… all the Alsatian sweets that you absolutely need to try!
To buy good gingerbread
Let it be said that true gingerbread is only made with honey, but not with sugar! I recommend you to try the delicious and organic gingerbread of Rucher du Bonhomme, located not far from the restaurant Au Lion.
To eat a “torche aux marrons”
The “torche aux marrons” is an Alsatian specialty, also known as Mont-Blanc, and is made with chestnut cream, whipped cream and meringue. The Pâtisserie Vilmain (on Grand Rue) is actually excellent.
- A unique medieval theme
- Many activities
- Big market: there is a lot to see!
I liked a little less
- Too many people
