The Balneo and Spa area of Ribeauvillé Casino is located at the entrance of the village of Ribeauvillé, on the Alsace Wine Route. This complex of the group Barrière includes a casino, a hotel and a balneo-spa area. However, you don’t need to stay at the hotel to enjoy the spa, as it’s open to everyone.
This area dedicated to well-being is actually divided into two sections. The balneo area works as thermal baths: you can buy a package for a few hours or for a day, giving you access to all facilities. The spa is called Spa Diane Barrière and offers various treatments independently or as en extra to the balneo area access. I haven’t tried any of these treatments.
The balneo area comprises a large indoor and outdoor pool with a lot of different water activities (jacuzzi, jets divers, bubble beds, counter-current swimming…), a pool where it is possible to listen to music underwater (it’s very relaxing), resting spaces, as well as a sauna and a hammam. Water temperature is about 34°C in the main pool and is even hotter in the second one: it is just perfect, except of course in summer when you want to cool off! The place is very pleasant, with huge bay windows looking onto the vineyard, the three Ribeauvillé castles and the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle. The light, the splendid view over the surrounding landscape, as well as the beautiful layout of the spa make it a perfect place to relax. I, for one, spent an excellent afternoon there!
It should be noted that the balneo and spa area of Ribeauvillé’s casino, as well as the hotel have the particularity of being heated with a bio-methanation unit installed in a neighboring farm. Definitely a significant ecological asset…
Regarding more practical details, Ribeauvillé’s spa has closed individual changing rooms and lockers. Bathing suit (no bathing shorts, sorry about that gentlemen!) is mandatory in the whole spa, except in the sauna and hammam where it is forbidden. It is still possible to keep a towel on you: if you are modest like me, you can still enjoy these spaces! Don’t forget to bring plastic sandals, as they are also mandatory. If you don’t have any, it is possible to buy some at the entrance (2€50 the pair). It is also possible to rent towels.
For once, the article pictures are actually the official pictures of the Resort Barrière Ribeauvillé (crédit: Fabrice Rambert), as it was too difficult for me to to take pictures in such a space (there are a lot of people and it is impossible to ask everyone if it was ok!).
- Beautiful space with different water activities
- Splendid view on the vineyard and castles
- Location on the Alsace Wine Route
I liked a little less
- Smaller than some German thermal baths, such as Bad Krozingen and also more expensive
- Non-thermal water

Prices and opening times
You will find here the prices and opening times of Ribeauvillé casino spa.
I chose a 3-hour package, which was enough to enjoy the whole space. I could have stayed longer without getting bored at all! However, I do believe the 2-hour package is a bit short if you want to enjoy the whole spa.
The address is as follows: Route Départementale 106, 68150 Ribeauvillé. It is located:
- 17 km from Colmar (about 20 minutes drive)
- 58 km from Mulhouse (about 40 minutes drive)
- 63 km from Strasbourg (about 40 minutes drive)
By public transport
This is not ideal, but you can take a bus to the supermarket Leclerc in Ribeauvillé and then walk (for about 20 minutes). Please look up your itinerary on Vialsace.
If you are feeling peckish, there is a restaurant called Le Bélvédère on the first floor. I have not tried it, but the view is beautiful! The restaurant La Brasserie is also a good option (I have tried it!)
