In any city, it is not always easy to find a good tea room. You know, one of these welcoming places where you can find real tea (not Lipton tea) and where you can savour a tasty slice of cake.

With these three criteria in mind – essential criteria according to me – I went in search of some good addresses. I have tried out for you (and I must admit, for myself too) several places.

Here are my 5 recommendations: they are the best tea rooms in Colmar or at least my favorite ones!

L'Essence du Thé, a paradise for tea lovers

essence-the-salon-colmar

L'Essence du thé, is THE tea room in Colmar. Here we find ourselves in a paradise for tea lovers: with over 230 different types of tea, there is something for all tastes.

After choosing your tea on the huge menu, you can just enjoy smelling its scent. It is then time to infuse: the duration may vary depending on the type of tea and you can control it with a little minute glass. Finally, it is time to taste it... and it's of course excellent!

To accompany your tea and if you are feeling peckish, l'Essence du Thé offers every day a homemade cake. I tried a very moist macha cake.

To extend this pleasant time, it is possible to buy tea in their shop, as well as beautiful tea pots and other utensils.

I liked

  • The cosy atmosphere
  • The huge selection of teas
  • The homemade cake

I liked a little less

  • There is not much space, so it's quickly full, but it's also part of the charm of this tea room!

Practical information

My bill

8€ for a tea pot (0.5L) of green tea Gunpowder and a macha cake.

The gourmet pies of Jadis et Gourmande

tarte-rhubarbe-meringuee-jadis-gourmande

Jadis et Gourmande is a bistrot in Colmar, which doubles as a tea room in the afternoon. The atmosphere is very pleasant, with wood decorations and friendly teddy bears. You will feel right at home!

Their specialty? Pies... and they are particularly well done. I tried a delicious rhubarb meringue pie and it was a very generous serving. It is so good that I easily finished it!

To accompany it, Jadis et Gourmande offer very good artisanal fruit juices. Perfect for a gourmet afternoon snack...

I liked

  • The wooded and warm atmosphere
  • The excellent and well-sized pies
  • The artisanal fruit juices

I liked a little less

  • Nothing!

Practical information

My bill

10.40€ for an artisanal fruit juice and a huge slice of rhubarb meringue pie. With a tea, instead of a fruit juice, the price would have been 9.10€.

L'Entre-Pot: drink tea among flowers

salon-the-colmar-entre-pot

L'Entre-Pot is a quirky tea room in Colmar as it is located... in a flower shop! If you want to have a cup of tea in a unique place, this is definitely for you!

You will get a warm welcome and the decorations are lovely. You will find on the menu teas from Damman Frères, coffees, fruit juices and syrups. As a bonus, it is possible to have a slice of pie (or breakfast in the morning, but I have never tried it). It's very simple but very good!

On sunny days, it is even possible to have tea on the terrace. It won't prevent you from going to the lovely shop, that is really worth a visit! You will find flowers, but also some nice decorations... It's a real Aladdin's Cave, as the owner calls it!

I liked

  • The atmosphere of the place, among flowers
  • Tasty pies
  • Warm welcome

I liked a little less

  • Tea is served in a cup and not in a tea pot

Practical information

My bill

6€50 for a tea (cup) and a slice of mirabelle plum pie

Ice creams, meringues and cakes at the Sorbetière d'Isabelle

salon-the-colmar-sorbetiere-isabelle

La Sorbetière d'Isabelle is a small tea room located right in the heart of Colmar. Their specialties are ice creams and sorbets, but they also offer a few simple and tasty cakes.

The brand of the ice creams is Alba, an Alsatian ice cream master. It is not a small ice-cream maker, but they are really delicious! La Sorbetière d'Isabelle gives you a choice between cones or cups of ice creams of very varied flavors. It's a little bit like a paradise for ice cream lovers!

Drink wise, there is a large selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolates. There are special gourmet set menus, where the drink comes with a meringue, a scoop of ice cream and some Alsatian bredele.

The place is small, but the decoration is warm and you will fill right at home! There is also a small terrace overlooking the street. The welcome might seem cold at first, but it is then very friendly.

I liked

  • Huge selection of delicious ice creams (to be eaten on the premises or to take away)
  • Tea, coffee or gourmet chocolate set menus
  • Good cakes
  • Open on Sundays!

I liked a little less

  • Nothing!

Practical information

My bill

7€ for a tea (a tea pot) and a slice of lemon meringue pie.

For reference, a teapot and a scoop of ice cream cost 4.90€ and a hot chocolate and a brownie 5.80€.

L'Atelier de Yann, design and fine pastries

salon-the-atelier-yann-colmar

L'Atelier de Yann is a newcomer in Colmar. It is a pâtisserie that also has a beautiful tea room corner.

For once, it's not one of these pâtisseries with a couple of chairs set up in the middle of the shop with no more decorations or thought. The space is modern with an impressive ceiling and a beautiful parquet. Design and elegance!

It's a beautiful place, perfect for sipping tea (the menu offers a vast selection) and to savour one of the delicious pastries from L'Atelier de Yann. I'm actually also talking about it in my article about the best pâtisseries in Colmar. Pastry lovers, you have been warned!

I liked

  • Excellent fine and original pastries
  • Large selection of teas
  • A beautiful and modern space
  • Pleasant service

I liked a little less

  • These are not my favorite macaroons in Colmar

Practical information

My bill

8.45€ for a tea and a caramel eclair.

La Libellule is a cultural café located in the town center of Colmar. The place is very welcoming, with cute decorations, a bookcase where you can choose books to read while drinking your tea, board games and a special space for children. It's perfect for a tea room!

You will find on the menu a lot of organic products, from fair and local trade. There are for example organic teas Jardins de Gaia (Alsatian brand), organic syrups, coffees and hot chocolates and so on...

For your sweet tooth, La Libellule Café offer every day a few good homemade cakes. I tried for example a delicious plum liqueur pie. It is also possible to have lunch at La Libellule where you will find soups, bruchettas and quiches.
