Bed & Breakfast – Les Volets Bleus

What if you would come and stay at home? I am renting two rooms for rent at home, in Quatzenheim (small traditional Alsatian village located 15 minutes away from Strasbourg). My husband Olivier and I, and our two cats, would be delighted to welcome you in our home!

Our house dates back from 1800. This a traditional half-timbered Alsatian house, with the distinctive feature of having… blue shutters. It’s actually not very common in Alsace! The name was then quickly chosen. It is located in the heart of the village of Quatzenheim.

Our village

Quatzenheim is a small typical Alsatian village (700 inhabitants), with pretty half-timbered houses and very beautiful Alsatian farms. It is located in the Kochersberg, a region nicknamed “Alsace wheat-basket”, because of its countless agricultural lands. The story also says that Louis XIV would have exclaimed “What a beautiful garden!”, when admiring the rolling countryside of the Kochersberg.

From the village, it’s about 15 minutes from Strasbourg train station by car, 20 minutes to the city centre of Strasbourg and 10 minutes to the start of the Alsace Wine Route in Marlenheim.

There are very good traditional restaurants in the area (that’s where you can find the best tartes flambées in Alsace!).

Rooms for rent

We can host between 1 to 4 persons in our house. We live in the house, but we offer to rent the whole 2nd floor, located in a fully renovated attic. This way, we will meet each other from time to time and we can chat if you would like (we would love to give you advice to organise your stay!), but you will definitely have your privacy.

The 2nd floor at your disposal is made up of:

  • The grey bedroom, with a double bed (140×200)
  • The red bedroom ,with two single beds (80×200) that can be grouped upon request
  • A small bathroom with a shower, to share (the two rooms are only rented to people coming together. If you are two people, the second room won’t be rented and you won’t have to share the bathroom with anyone.)
  • A small living room area with DVD player, desk, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, DVDs, guides about Alsace and board games
  • Wifi is available on the whole floor. Cotton sateen linens, bath towels, soap and shampoo are also provided.

In addition, you can use our kitchen to prepare your meals if you want to. Our big garden and the patio are also accessible.

Our ambition is that our guests really feel at home, and follow their own rhythm, to come and go, but also to use the kitchen or at breakfast time…

I am not always here for breakfast, but I will put at your disposal, in the fridge and kitchen cupboards, provisions to make a good breakfast: fresh bread, cereals, milk, crispbreads, yogurts, butter, jams, apple juice, coffee, tea, chocolate… Most of the products are organic and coming from local producers from the surrounding farms. You’ll only have to help yourselves! 🙂

If you follow a vegan or gluten-free diet, you’ll just need to let me know and I can adapt it.

A few words from our guests

“Thank you for warm welcome and your energy. You have managed to showcase your region through your precious advice. We were delighted to discover a few Christmas markets and we appreciated the local commitment to decorate these beautiful buildings. Special mention for the village of Obernai… magnificent! See you soon for sure… Thanks again…” Gaëlle and Louise

“What a pleasure to discover your beautiful region. Your advice, suggestions and small “tips” helped us to unearth wonders that we certainly wouldn’t have discovered without your precious help. And what a welcome! Always available and of very good advice… you have definitely enhanced our splendid stay. Thank you for everything and don’t change a thing.” Hélène and Olivier

“Thank you for your warm welcome and the good breakfast delicacies (very good products). We have appreciated being able to enjoy part of your house, including the kitchen. Your second floor is decorated with taste and is very pratcical for a family with 2 children. We also enjoyed the availability of guidebooks, board games and DVDs. Good luck! “ The CD Family
