A Saturday morning at Saint-Joseph market in Colmar

Saint-Joseph market is hold every Saturday in Colmar, on the place Saint-Joseph. The district Saint-Joseph is not generally a district visited by tourists. It has nothing really special, but it is still very nice: it has a “village” feel that makes it quite pleasant. This is all the more true on Saturday mornings, when all the regulars come to the market. Coming to the market can therefore be a nice Colmar experience if you are in town!

The Saint-Joseph market is not huge, but not necessarily beautiful and you’ll be able to find local products there. If you want to buy real Alsatian products, this is the right place! Cheese, bread, vegetables, jams, herbal medicines, meat, biscuits… There is everything! You could even feel a bit of exotisme by keeping your ears open: some people still talk Alsatian on some booths…

If you come for the market, I’d recommend you to stop for coffee or breakfast at the bakery Saint-Joseph (also called Furstoss, 37 rue du Logelbach), which offers many organic breads. You’ll find in the bakery many people from the neighborhood coming for coffee or to grab a bite: local atmosphere guaranteed!

I liked

  • Many regional producers
  • Very local atmosphere

I liked a little less

  • The market is not really pretty
