A Saturday morning at the Saint-Joseph market in Colmar

The Saint-Joseph market is held every Saturday in Colmar, on the Saint-Joseph square. The St. Joseph neighborhood is not usually a neighborhood visited by tourists. It is not really special but it is nevertheless pleasant: it has this “village” side which makes it very nice. This is especially true on Saturday mornings, when all the regulars come to do their shopping. A visit to the market can be a great experience if you are staying in the city!

The St. Joseph market is not huge, not particularly beautiful but there are many local producers. If you want to buy real Alsatian products, this is a good place! Cheese, bread, vegetables, jams, medicinal plants, meat, cookies… There is everything! You might even feel out of place if you listen: you can still hear Alsatian being spoken on some stands…

My guide to Colmar

Plan an unforgettable stay in Colmar without wasting time looking for information with my guidebook : the most beautiful places, the activities not to be missed and the best addresses!

If you come to do your shopping, I recommend you to stop for a coffee or a breakfast at the bakery Saint-Joseph (also called Furstoss, 37 rue du Logelbach), which offers many organic breads. Inside the bakery, many locals came to have a coffee or a bite to eat: local atmosphere guaranteed!

I liked

  • Many producers in the region
  • Very local atmosphere

I liked less

  • The market is not really pretty
