Segway ride in Alsace with Fun Moving

I recently tested an unusual activity: a segway ride in Alsace with Fun Moving. But not in a city, as we are used to see from time to time: my segway ride took place in the middle of nature, in the Vosges! For those who wonder what a segway (also called gyropod) is, it is a single-seat electric vehicle with two wheels and a small electric motor, on which you stand. One of the fun things about the segway is that it balances itself thanks to a gyroscope located inside. It will be easy to balance on it in spite of the two wheels which would let us think the contrary at first sight!

Fun Moving offers several different tours, ranging from 1 hour to 6 hours of riding. The places are also very varied since it is possible to make segway in Alsace in the Vosges, on the Wine Road (with visit of cellar possibly), on the Plain of Alsace… And even at night or on the snow in winter! So there is plenty to choose from. I opted for a one-day tour in the Vosges (5h of segway), with a lunch break in a farm inn (yum).

Our day begins on the Markstein side with a 30 minutessegway initiation, just to master the beast! Nothing complicated at all but there are a few subtleties to know. Then, let’s go for a ride! We follow Léopold, from Fun Moving, who shows us where to go and sometimes comes down to guide us on the tricky passages (like a big mud pool!). Overall, it goes very well everywhere since it is an all-terrain segway. It’s quite fun and we ride quietly through the beautiful landscapes of the Vosges, sometimes stopping to take some pictures.

At lunch time, we arrive at the
Uff Rain farmhouse
(a sure value!). On the menu, we find mainly the traditional marcaire meal that we enjoy with the whole group in a friendly atmosphere. It is then time to take our gyropods to return by the same way. A very nice day is coming to an end!

I liked

  • Fun way to get around in nature
  • Initiation to the start to master the machine
  • Electric and silent motor
  • Friendly atmosphere
  • Activity accessible to people with disabilities thanks to seated gyropods

I liked less

  • No physical effort at all (which can be an advantage, you might say!)
