I discovered the store Avenue d’Alsace during one of my first walks in Colmar. I had been attracted by the beautiful fabrics on display and had pushed the door of the store. I liked it so much, I vowed to go back and take pictures. A lovely tea towel offered by some girlfriends reminded me that I had not yet shared this discovery with you!

Avenue d’Alsace is an Alsatian brand created by Caroline Lux, textile engineer and designer. It is a brand of household linen, clothing and accessories for babies, textile accessories and decorative objects. The brand revisits some traditional Alsatian symbols and motifs to modernize them. Thus, we will find for example half-timbered houses, kouglofs or pretzels, but these are modernized and often integrated rather discreetly. The Alsatian inspiration is in any case very present, even if it is discreet: the opening of the Great North space of the Zoo of Mulhouse has for example inspired Caroline to create a range of textiles with animal motifs. Alsace is everywhere, but in a very subtle way! I really appreciated this mix between tradition and modernity.

Avenue d’Alsace products are 100% made in France: Caroline creates the designs in her workshop in Colmar (in the room next to the store), then has the textiles printed in the Lyon region and made in the Vosges.

My guide to Colmar

Plan an unforgettable stay in Colmar without wasting time looking for information with my guidebook : the most beautiful places, the activities not to be missed and the best addresses!

The Avenue d’Alsace store in Colmar, located in a beautiful building in the heart of the pedestrian city center, includes lots of nice things to buy as souvenirs (better than a stuffed stork made in china!) or to offer as gifts. In addition to textiles and decorative objects, you can also find ceramics (made in Selestat, between Colmar and Strasbourg), jewelry, cookie cutters… A store not to be missed! If you missed it, good news: there is an online store!

I liked

  • Fabrics and objects combining Alsatian tradition and modernity
  • 100% French manufacturing
  • Very friendly welcome
  • Reasonable prices for made in France

I liked less

  • Nothing!
