Shopping idea in Alsace – Catherine Piernot, an artisan saddle and harness maker

As a horsewoman, I discovered Catherine Piernot and her Atelier KTI in a newspaper article that was posted in my stable. An artisan saddle and harness marker in Alsace in Haut-Rhin? Of course, I had to meet her! It was during a horse festival, where I admired que quality of the leathers and the work of Catherine. I then wanted to go visit her in her workshop, to choose a belt for a Christmas present, but also to discover the work behind the scenes. And you know what? I was completely captivated by Atelier KTI and its adorable owner.

Imagine an old house with a room under the roof, a good leather smell, beautiful exhibited objects, two bassets snoring in the corner and a warm welcome. Welcome to Catherine Piernot‘s place, an artisan saddle and harness maker! Catherine used to work in logistics, but decided to train and to devote herself to leather work. The result is a success: the products she makes are extremely beautiful and her enthusiasm is contagious. She loves her job and you can see it!

The Atelier KTI offers to make objects for horses (nets, halters, harnesses,…), for dogs (collars, leashes…), but also for men and women (belts, bags, bracelets…). Everything is custom made and entirely hand made and sewn, with leather coming from Belgium (it is unfortunately impossible to stock up in France for so little volumes of leather). Her prices are very reasonable in regards to the quality of the objects produced. Here is a good idea for friends… or even for yourself!

I liked

  • Great quality of leather and of work done (everything is hand made!)
  • Custom made work
  • Local craft
  • Good value for money

I liked a little less

  • Nothing!
