The ski resort of Lac Blanc is located in the Valley of Kaysersberg, between 900 m and 1,200 m of altitude. It is the closest ski resort to Colmar, the biggest station of the Massif des Vosges in Alsace and the third biggest of the whole massif (the first two being La Bresse and Gérardmer). With 14 km of slopes, Lac Blanc is still quite small (after all, it is the Vosges, not the Alpes) but it’s quite nice for a ski day or weekend.
For alpine skiing, the Lac Blanc ski resort has 5 green slopes, 1 blue, 6 red (including one slalom one), 1 black, as well as a boardercross slope and a snowpark (with airbag). It is a family-friendly resort, where skiers of all levels can come and enjoy. Lac Blanc also has a big Nordic domain with 77 km cross-country trails. I haven’t tried the cross-country trails, but I did have some fun on the alpine domain! Note that it is also possible to come skiing at night at Lac Blanc on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays until 10 pm.
It’s also good to know that if you don’t like to ski, you can go snow-shoeing on one of the 4 marked circuits (thankfully they are not packed as you can see in some places!). I have tried the shortest circuit (blue circuit, 1 hour walk): it’s very easy, even if you have never done snowshoes before and it lets you see beautiful landscapes! You can rent snowshoes directly at the resort. Let’s not forget to mention the toboggan runs that the children should definitely enjoy!
- Pleasant family-friendly ski resort with beautiful views
- Detachable chairlift
- Night skiing 4 days a week
- Snowshoe circuits available for free
I liked a little less
- Power line in the middle of the domain
- The restaurants are not great in the station
