Looking for a fun activity to do with friends? I tested Stras Kart in Eckbolsheim, just near Strasbourg, which offers an indoor electric karting circuit. This is a good idea for speed lovers or just people looking for something to do in case it rains! And even if you think it’s not your thing, you might be surprised. I really got into the game, although I was very skeptical at first!

Electric go-karts…but not without pizzazz!

Stras Kart has exclusively Sodikart electric karts. It’s hard for me to compare with more classic thermal karting because I only did it once a long time ago, but in any case it doesn’t lack any pep!

By default, the karts are limited in speed to avoid accidents, unless you manage to do some time on the track. In this case, the kart will be unlocked, and the “expert” mode and the speed that goes with it will be yours! Well, on my side, I’ll have to progress before I get to that stage… but I’ve already got the feel of it without the expert mode, so it’s not a big deal.

I found the karts comfortable and, because of the electrics, quiet and odorless, which made me live the experience totally differently: I hate noise and gasoline odors, so I was delighted 😉

An indoor track

The track on which we evolve is 400m long and is totally indoor. This is a great way to keep busy even when the weather is not so good!

The track may seem small when you arrive, but there are two levels plus technical passages, so in the end there is absolutely no boredom. There are also lights everywhere to create a special atmosphere. We are a little out of time, it goes by (too!) fast!

With each new lap, we have fun trying to beat our record (a large screen allows us to see the times achieved) and to improve on the tricky passages, it is motivating. On the other hand, it is not wide at all so it is not easy to overtake… Especially when you are a novice like me. But I had a lot of fun, that’s the main thing!

Sessions and events for all audiences

It is possible to come and do karting on several occasions. As individuals, just for the pleasure of doing some sessions with friends or family, but also for a birthday or an EVJF/EVG.

We can also come in a professional context, during a seminar, a team building or an end of year party, for example. This is where I was able to test, and I found that it really lent itself well. We had the “Grand Prix” formula, which allows to privatize the track and to have practice laps and then a race, but also a free drink, a prize giving… It was really fun!

Children are not forgotten since you can organize a birthday party there for them, but also simply come and do sessions dedicated to them. Children are welcome from the age of 7 years old and if they are 1m30 tall. They drive children’s karts until they are 14 years old, then they move on to adult karts.

Every Wednesday afternoon, adult and children’s sessions alternate and it is possible to book children’s sessions at any time during the opening hours, subject to availability. A great time for the whole family!
