La Villa du Coteau, a bed and breakfast in Obernai

La Villa du Coteau is a bed and breakfast located in Obernai, on the Alsace Wine Route, in a house dating back from the 19th century, and which has been entirely renovated by Nicolas and Hoby, the very kind owners. After several years spent in Shanghai, where they’ve met, the couple had wanted to carry out another project and decided to settle in Alsace, Nicolas’s native region, to establish the Villa du Coteau. It was a real opportunity for this house, which was then entirely restored after 9 months of intensive works, and for the visitors who are very lucky to stay there!

The place is pleasant, with a large living room and a small veranda. The mix of old and new is a success: this is how you’ll see coexisting in the same room, a masterful wooden staircase and contemporary paintings. I really liked the simple and elegant decoration giving a lot of charm to this bed and breakfast.

The owners are welcoming, friendly and give very good advice about the restaurants and activities to try in the region. Don’t hesitate to ask them anything!

My room at the Villa du Coteau

I slept in the superior room Panorama 1, a spacious 23m2 room with a balcony, and I was able to visit a few other rooms. Generally speaking, the rooms of the Villa du Coteau are spacious, the smallest one being 19m2, which is quite reasonable. My room was very confortable, with bedding of very good quality and an open bathroom with a large shower (with separate toilets). Pretty and pleasant!

A big plus for this room: the panorama! The view over the roofs of Obernai, with the Vosges as backdrop (you can even see Mont Sainte-Odile), is absolutely beautiful!

Breakfast at Villa du Coteau is copious and of good quality. It is served on a big table in the living room and is taken in the company of other guests. Pressed orange juice, a large selection of teas, coffees, cold meats, cheese, cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit salad, bread and viennoiseries… It’s delicious!

Before your arrival, Nicolas and Hoby will send you an email to know if you have food allergies: for example, if you have an intolerance to gluten, they’ll order special bread at the bakery for your stay! It’s particularly thoughtful.

The bed and breakfast La Villa du Coteau is located on the heights of Obernai, all the while being close by the town centre. You’ll be able to get to the heart of the town centre with a 5 minutes walk and enjoy the pretty views over the town roofs and the Vosges as a backdrop. Pretty nice!

I liked

  • Good location in Obernai

I liked a little less

  • The house is a bit sonorous
