The menu of our favorite bars
1. Le Douanier – An exotic and tropical cocktail bar
I liked
- The warmth of the place
- The atypical bartender César
I liked less
- Nothing!
Enjoy yourself with the Douanier, exoticism guaranteed! The neighborhood takes a few degrees as soon as you walk through the door (no customs fees haha). Tropical tapestries and warm armchairs invite you to enjoy the chef’s cocktail creations, original from the container to the content, with huge puns! Expect to pay between €13 and €15 per cocktail.

2. Aedaen Place – The Speakeasy-Style Hidden Bar
I liked
- The incredible decorative frame
- The suave atmosphere between personalities of all types
I liked less
- Cocktails could be even more original
Aeden Place is home to one of the pioneering speakeasies—a permanent fixture in my top 3—that’s sure to blow you away! First off, you have to hunt it down—which only makes it all the more enticing. Hint: hang around the pizzeria… Once you step inside Aeden’s Bar Caché, the “wow” factor is guaranteed (I’ve pulled this off with dozens of people) Take a leap back in time and across the Atlantic—you’ll find yourself transported to New York during Prohibition. Why not indulge? Snuggle into the red velvet couches and sip on Lucas’s delicious concoctions! The hidden bar is open every day from 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

3. Le Code Bar – The Must-Visit Retro-Chic Spot
I liked
- Pornstar martini forever!
I liked less
- A little too many seats per m2
We’re talking about an institution that’s been around for as long as I can remember—even before it became trendy (at least 10 years!). So it’s impossible not to mention the Code Bar, which you’ll find yourself heading to after checking out Madame Cathédrale. You’ll find yourself immersed in a sort of retro elegance and succumb to the timeless cocktails… Expect to pay around €15 per cocktail at this spot, which is open every night from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m.

4. The Alchemist – Unusual Cocktails Under a Giant Oak Tree
I liked
- The scene with the tree
- Unbeatable value for the money
I liked less
- Space is pretty limited, so it’s best to arrive early on weekends to avoid waiting in line
Want to get off the beaten path? Head to L’Alchimiste on Rue des Sœurs, a local institution that has weathered trends without ever losing its soul. Push open the small door, settle in under a massive tree whose branches stretch all the way to the ceiling, and treat yourself to cocktails with names that’ll make you smile—Dracula, Fesse-bouc, l’Antéchrist… Cocktails range from €8 to €12—great value for Strasbourg. Open daily from 7 p.m., until 2 a.m. on weekdays and 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

5. Léobar – A jungle and leopard-print vibe
I liked
- The Setting
I liked less
- Prices that rise quickly as soon as you add food and drink
Last stop on the tour: head to the jungle-themed atmosphere of Léobar on Rue du Fossé-des-Tanneurs. Tapestries featuring oversized foliage, leopard-print accents, and signature cocktails come together to create an elegant setting. It’s also a great spot to nibble on some finger foods between drinks—foie gras on bredele, tartare… enough to turn an aperitif into a full-fledged evening out, with a decidedly upscale vibe. Closed on Mondays and Sundays, the Léobar welcomes night owls Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.
