An original activity is to be tried in Aspach-Michelbach: the South-Alsace velorail. I had wanted to try it for a long time, but never had the chance. When I heard that a velorail was opening near my home, I didn't hesitate!

Charlotte loves going out, enjoying a drink or a good meal with friends, and getting out and about! On Sundays, it's a "hiking" day to discover Alsace's hiking trails. Whether on the heights or in the fields, there's plenty to do in our beautiful region!

There are several departures during the day, we chose the one in the early afternoon. The walk lasts about 2 hours, it’s a 9 km route between Burnhaupt and Cernay, on the same rails as the Thur Doller train – for those who know.

First good point: the manager is really smiling and welcoming, just like her team. In talking with her, we learned that she was fulfilling her father’s dream by setting up this velorail. A nice story too!

The velorail, an activity accessible to all

There are of course some rules to follow but nothing too complicated. We leave in convoy, separated by about fifty meters each one for safety reasons. Each velorail can be composed differently, with a certain number of adults and children to respect. And we’re comfortable!

We did it
did it as a family
4 adults and my 1-year-old daughter, and there was room for everyone. It is possible to have a free bike seat for toddlers, but we preferred to keep her with us on the back seat, which is like a deckchair – and she loved it!

Discover the landscape differently on the Velorail

I tested it as a passenger on the way out and then pedaling on the way back. I was a bit afraid to struggle but it’s really easy, the course is flat and accessible to everyone. They are beautiful bikes, and we are comfortable to pedal. It was hot the day we tried it, but you get the wind in your hair, it’s really nice!

We discover the landscapes differently by passing through fields, forests, and especially on a bridge. There are some beautiful views of the Vosges Mountains along the way.

As you can see, I really enjoyed this experience and I recommend it to everyone! There were other families in the convoy but also couples, friends, it is an activity that can please everyone!

Don’t forget to reserve your slot because there are many requests 😉

  • Everything – I think that’s clear!
  • Nothing!
