I already mentioned it when I told you about Huttopia Wattwiller, Huttopia campsites have a reputation for being very “natural”, and of course Huttopia Forêt des Vosges is no exception to the rule, quite the contrary.

Since it’s a Huttopia village, you really feel even more connected to nature because there are no cars on the campgrounds, and the accommodations are spaced far apart—and sometimes even tucked away among the trees. And since we’re right in the heart of the Vosges Forest, it’s truly a great way to recharge! I fell in love with the place and would have loved to stay for a week 🙂

Tents, huts, chalets or cabins

Whether you’re looking for comfort or an experience that’s closer to “real” camping (while still enjoying some extra comforts), there are plenty of options! Here are the different types of accommodations available:

• Canvas and wooden tents for 2 to 5 people, with or without bathroom
• Cahuttes, i.e. half-chalet (first floor), half-tent (upper floor) accommodation.
• Chalets for 4 to 5 people (including one specially equipped for people with reduced mobility)
• Cabins for 6 people

My weekend in a cabin

After trying out a cabin in Wattwiller (which I’d already really liked), this time I tried out a treehouse. In terms of comfort, it’s clearly a step up, without taking anything away from the place’s charm! It has that cozy, cocooning atmosphere created by the wood and the stove—plus the pleasure of enjoying it while lounging on a big sofa 😉

Staying at Huttopia Forêt des Vosges on a sunny but cool weekend, I loved the warmth of the stove, but also admired the sunset from the warmth of the large bay window. It was bliss!

The cabin is a well-appointed and functional 50-square-meter accommodation for 6 people. On the ground floor, there is a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom (with a shower, sink, and toilet), and a large living area featuring a sitting area with a sofa bed and coffee table, a dining area, and a kitchenette (with a refrigerator, two-burner gas stove, microwave, and dishwasher).

Not forgetting the wood-burning stove in the middle of the room, which is not the only source of heat, as radiators are also provided.

Upstairs, there is a bedroom with two single beds and a double bed on the loft. Finally, the cabin has a lovely patio with a sofa, a table, and a space for a fire (either a fire pit or a fire hole, depending on the cabin). It’s a great spot for a cozy evening by the campfire!

I really liked the location of my cabin, which was above the parking lot opposite the reception desk, but gave me a lovely view of the trees and the sunset…

Services and leisure

Common areas

The village features a large living area with tables, sofas, a beautiful fireplace, and a spacious terrace. This is also where you’ll find the reception area and the café-restaurant, which offers plenty of delicious options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Opening hours vary by season, so please check in advance based on your travel dates.

There’s also a small grocery/gift shop corner, with a tempting selection and a focus on local products. It’s convenient whether you’re looking for a little something extra or just need to pick up a few essentials! You can also order bread for breakfast.

Things to do in the village

Huttopia Forêt des Vosges has two pools: an outdoor pool and a large heated indoor pool… Plus, there’s direct access to a lake where you can swim and paddleboard during the warmer months! It’s really beautiful and fun. As an added bonus, you can also book a time slot at the forest spa, a lovely wooden spa featuring a Finnish bath and two saunas.

There is also a large playground for children, as well as pétanque courts , a ping-pong table, a foosball table, and board games. You can also rent electric mountain bikes.

A wide variety of activities are organized at Huttopia Forêt des Vosges (especially during school breaks), making it an ideal place to spend a weekend or enjoy a family vacation. Archery, yoga, campfire nights, outdoor movies, concerts, hikes, cooking, astronomy… The activities are very diverse, suited to children of different ages, and some are also designed for adults. Feel free to ask about the program based on your travel dates.

Things to do around the village

There are plenty of things to do in the area. Here are a few ideas, but this list is by no means exhaustive:

• Hiking or trail running: you don’t necessarily need to take the car—the hiking trails start right outside the campground! A little further away, you can go on some beautiful hikes and admire the waterfalls!
• Cycling: Whether you’re into touring, mountain biking, or road cycling, there are plenty of routes to choose from in the area. There are even a few beautiful mountain passes to climb for enthusiasts 😉
• Visit Gérardmer: stroll around town, enjoy water sports on the lake or walk the trails around Gérardmer.
• Discover the region’s lakes: While Lake Gérardmer is the best known, it’s by no means the only lake in the region! Lake Longemer, Lake Blanc, Lake des Corbeaux, Lake Lispach… There are plenty of others waiting for you (and, in my opinion, they’re even more beautiful because they’re more “untouched,” for that matter).
• Visit the Hautes-Vosges confectionery: here’s a good idea for a gourmet activity to keep you busy on a rainy day 😉
• The Route des Crêtes: Take a stroll along the Route des Crêtes, admire the blue ridge of the Vosges Mountains, and stop for a break at a farmhouse inn… It’s the perfect way to spend a great day!
