Looking for a fun day out with the kids? The Au Pays des Bûcherons trail in Grendelbruch is just what you need! Just a stone’s throw from my gîte mon Escapade, I enjoyed discovering this pretty little family trail. And if you’re looking for more of a hike, don’t hesitate to check out this hike to Hohbuhl and Piton du Falkenstein, my favorite!

The Au pays des Bûcherons trail is 2.6km long , with 70m of ascent, but you can also shorten it to 1.7km and do even less climbing. There are a number of possible options on the course, so there’s something for everyone.

Leaving from the Grendelbruch soccer stadium, let’s set off for a fun, bucolic stroll! The idea is to combine walking and relaxation on this circuit. Along the way, you’ll find explanations of the surrounding forest, educational games for children and picnic tables… And even a zip line! The idea is really to be able to take a nice walk, but also to sit back and let the kids play…

The walk itself is really pretty: you enjoy lovely views over the Bruche Valley, you cross an alley of hazel trees, you walk along a beautiful forest path… No difficulties to report, just enjoy the scenery! Note, however, that if you have a baby carriage, some passages are not suitable: in this case, you can cut through the road (which is not very busy) on this section.

For geocaching enthusiasts, there are also geocaches on the “Au Pays des Bûcherons” trail. There are six in all, and the route map with contact details is available on request from the Mont Sainte-Odile tourist office.

I liked

  • Charming path
  • Child-friendly tour
  • Picnic tables, zip line…

I liked a little less

  • Nothing!
