Where to start to present the Dollenberg Spa? Just the thought of going to this hotel-restaurant and spa located in the Black Forest, part of the Relais & Châteaux, I am already eager to try all the activities, without knowing where to start.

The salt stone sauna or the pine sauna? The pool with indoor and outdoor pool or the second pool with salt water? The organic sauna or the sauna made of old wood? The hammam with “plant vapors” or the steam bath with sea salts? The rest room plunged in the dark, with the blue salt stones on the wall? Or the rest room all in pine wood?

As you can see, the numerous facilities are the advantage of the establishment: even when it is very busy, there will always be room somewhere. With access to the spa at 48 euros per day and 1 hour from Strasbourg (about 50 km), it would be a shame to miss out.

The Dollenberg, a well-equipped spa in the Black Forest

The Dollenberg still has a few assets that make the difference. There are ice cubes available and a Nordic pool where the bravest can dive in after the sauna. Water flavored with fresh lemons and oranges, and dried and fresh fruit, are available for refreshment and snacking.

The sensation shower is also to be tested… It always provokes giggles, even if I doubt that it is its first goal 🙂 We also took advantage of one of the free animations organized during the day, which consisted in listening to the vibrations and the sounds emitted with bowls… If not convincing us, it was fun to try!

I also liked the decoration, very mineral and nature oriented, and the attitude of the other visitors, who respect the calm of the place.

A word of warning if you’re not used to German spas: our neighbors go to the sauna and steam room in Eve and Adam’s clothes. Fortunately, for those who are modest, including me, the Dollenberg allows you to stay in your bathing suit.

For parents, please note that children are not allowed in the spa area but have access to the indoor and outdoor pools and the terrace.

  • The variety of activities, including 4 saunas and 3 hammams (!)
  • Water and fresh fruit
  • The quality/price ratio
  • Nothing!

Photos of the Dollenberg

Impossible to take pictures, so we asked the Dollenberg for some pictures to give you an idea of the place 🙂
