A village in the heart of the Vosges forest

I already mentioned it when I told you about Huttopia Wattwiller, Huttopia campsites have a reputation for being very “natural”, and of course Huttopia Forêt des Vosges is no exception to the rule, quite the contrary.

Being a Huttopia village, we’re even more in tune with nature , with no cars in the camp and well-spaced accommodation, sometimes even nestled among the trees. And since we’re in the heart of the Vosges forest, it’s really super-resourcing! I fell in love with it and would have loved to have stayed for a week 🙂

Accommodation at Village Huttopia Forêt des Vosges

Tents, huts, chalets or cabins

Whether you’re in the mood for comfort or a more “real” camping experience (but still with some added comforts), there’s plenty to choose from! Here are the different types of accommodation on offer:

  • Canvas and wooden tents for 2 to 5 people, with or without bathroom
  • Cahuttes, i.e. half-chalet (first floor), half-tent (upper floor) accommodation.
  • Chalets for 4 to 5 people (including one specially equipped for people with reduced mobility)
  • Cabins for 6 people

My weekend in a cabin

After testing a cahutte in Wattwiller (which I’d already really liked), this time I tested a cabane. In terms of comfort, it’s clearly a step up, without detracting from the charm of the place! There’s that cocooning atmosphere provided by the wood and the stove, and the pleasure of enjoying it while slumped on a big sofa 😉

Staying at Huttopia Forêt des Vosges on a sunny but cool weekend, I loved the warmth of the stove, but also admired the sunset from the warmth of the large bay window. It was bliss!

The cabane is a well-appointed, functional 50m2 accommodation for 6 people. On the first floor there’s a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom (with shower, washbasin and toilet) and a large living area comprising a sitting area with sofa bed and coffee table, a dining area and a kitchen area (with fridge, double gas hob, microwave oven and dishwasher).

Not forgetting the wood-burning stove in the middle of the room, which is not the only source of heat, as radiators are also provided.

Upstairs, there’s a bedroom with two single beds and a double bed on the mezzanine. Finally, the cabin has a lovely terrace with sofa, table and space for a fire (brazier or fire pit, depending on the cabin). A great place for a campfire evening!

I really liked the location of my cabin, which was above the parking lot opposite the reception desk, but gave me a lovely view of the trees and the sunset…

Services and leisure

Common areas

The village has a large living area with tables, sofas and a beautiful fireplace, as well as a vast terrace. This is also where you’ll find the reception desk and the café-restaurant, which offers a wide range of goodies for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Opening times vary according to the season, so please enquire in advance about your dates.

There’s also a small grocery/boutique corner, with a tempting selection of local products. For an extra treat or to tide you over, it’s very practical! You can also order bread for breakfast.

Things to do in the village

Huttopia Forêt des Vosges has two swimming pools: an outdoor pool and a large heated indoor pool… There’s also a lake with direct access, where you can swim and paddle in fine weather! Truly beautiful and fun. As an added bonus, you can also book a slot at the forest spa, a lovely wooden spa featuring a Finnish bath and two saunas.

There’s also a large children’s playground, pétanque courts , table tennis, table soccer and board games. Electric mountain bikes are also available for hire.

Huttopia Forêt des Vosges offers a wide range of activities (especially during school vacations), making it an ideal place to spend a weekend for a family vacation. Archery, yoga, campfire evenings, open-air cinema, concerts, hiking, cooking, astronomy… There’s a wide range of activities for children of all ages, and some are designed for adults too. Don’t hesitate to ask about the program according to your dates of stay.

Things to do around the village

There’s plenty to do in the area. Here are a few ideas, but this list is by no means exhaustive:

  • Hiking or trail walking: you don’t have to take the car, as the hiking trails pass right in front of the campsite! A little further on, you’ll find some great hikes with waterfalls to admire!
  • Cycling: whether you’re more into cycle touring, mountain biking or road biking, there are plenty of routes to choose from in the area. With a few nice passes to climb for enthusiasts 😉
  • Visit Gérardmer: stroll around town, enjoy water sports on the lake or walk the trails around Gérardmer.
  • Discover the region’s lakes: Gérardmer may be the best-known lake, but it’s by no means the only one! Lac de Longemer, Lac Blanc, Lac des Corbeaux, Lac de Lispach… There are plenty of others waiting for you (and in my opinion, they’re even more beautiful because they’re “wilder”).
  • Visit the Hautes-Vosges confectionery: here’s a good idea for a gourmet activity to keep you busy on a rainy day 😉
  • The Route des Crêtes: stroll along the Route des Crêtes, admire the blue line of the Vosges and stop off at a farmhouse inn… A great day out!
