Spa La Cheneaudière – My opinion on one of the most beautiful spas in Alsace

The Spa of the Hostellerie La Cheneaudière is without any doubt one of the most beautiful spas in Alsace. It is my favorite, just ahead of the Yonaguni Spa in Obernai, although the choice is difficult in Alsace as we are lucky enough to have some magnificent ones! La Cheneaudière is a 5 star hotel with the Relais & Châteaux label, located in Colroy-la-Roche, at the bottom of the Bruche Valley . A place a little lost but extremely peaceful: we are here in the middle of nature in the Alsatian Vosges and the landscapes are magnificent!

Day spa at the Hostellerie La Cheneaudière in Colroy-la-Roche

You can access the spa at La Cheneaudière when you make a reservation at the hotel but also thanks to Day Spa packages offered to non-residents. These are available for the day (you will have access from 10am to 7pm) or for the morning (access from 10am to 1pm).

The Day Spa packages include in both cases access to a buffet lunch with a hot dish (simple but good), salad, cheese, different kinds of bread, cold cuts, homemade pies, cereals… Everything is of high quality and from many local producers. The room is also very pleasant: you can choose the bar Le Calixte with its intimate atmosphere, the veranda or the bright breakfast room, with its beautiful green ceiling.

If you book the day, you will also have access to a buffet for the snack. You may be plunged back into childhood by discovering the buffet, many sweets are offered … Prepare your stomach for these two buffets, everything is delicious and it is hard to resist, I will have warned you😉

You don’t need to bring much with you as bathrobe, towel, sauna sarong, sleeping sheet and slippers are provided.

A 2,500m2 hotel spa

The nature spa of La Cheneaudière has been awarded several prizes, including the “Best Hotel Spa in Europe”. And honestly, it’s deserved! The place is just sublime, perfectly integrated in its environment because of its luminosity, its view on the surrounding landscapes and its decoration made with many natural materials. You feel like you are somewhere else as soon as you enter, in a preserved environment in harmony with the magnificent nature that surrounds it. It’s an idea to disconnect!

The Chaneaudière spa is 2,500m2, spread over 3 levels. I don’t know if you realize, it’s really big! It has a large number of facilities:

  • 2 indoor pools including 1 large pool with heated outdoor course
  • 1 heated outdoor pool with overflow
  • 1 natural pool with pure water filtered by mountain plants
  • 1 wooden barrel for a hot water bath
  • 5 saunas and sanarium from 45°C to 80°C
  • 1 large hive steam room
  • various whirlpools and sensation showers

You can feel that every detail has been thought of, such as the ice fountain at the exit of the sauna.

In addition, it is of course also possible to book treatments (massages, facials…) but also a session in the floarium (the largest floarium in Europe, no less!) or the privatization of “suspended nests”, relaxation areas located outside.

Restaurant and stay at Relais & Châteaux la Cheneaudière

If you wish to prolong the pleasure, you can of course book a stay at the hotel La Cheneaudière. The rooms of this charming house are very comfortable and the restaurant offers a delicious gastronomic cuisine imagined by its chef Jean-Paul Acker (and where vegetarians will also enjoy!). You will have an excellent time in this hotel, true to the spirit of Relais & Châteaux, in a magnificent natural setting.

I liked

  • The atmosphere of the spa, in harmony with the surrounding nature
  • The variety of facilities available
  • Bathrobe, slippers and various towels provided. Very nice!

I liked less

  • Nothing!

Practical information

Rates and reservation

Find the rates of the Spa de la Cheneaudière here. It is essential to book well in advance due to the success of the place!

Access

By car

The address is: 3 rue du Vieux Moulin 67420 Colroy la Roche. La Cheneaudière is located in:

  • 50 km from Colmar (about 1 hour)
  • 62 km from Strasbourg (about 1 hour)
  • 93 km from Mulhouse (about 1h30)

Be careful if you let yourself be guided by the GPS, from Colmar mine took me through Lorraine via a tunnel that cost me 8€! To be avoided, there is another much simpler route while remaining in Alsace and which costs nothing.

By public transport

You can look on Fluo, but it is not won!
