Day Spa Chez Julien – My review of this spa in Alsace!

The Spa Chez Julien is one of the most famous spas inAlsace. If you ask someone which is the best spa in Alsace, they'll usually say Chez Julien or La Cheneaudière. Having tried both, I have to say that La Cheneaudière remains at the top of my personal ranking, but I really like Chez Julien too. Both are of high quality, but the atmosphere is quite different: more traditional at Julien, more modern at La Cheneaudière. For my part, I like to keep things varied!

Day spa in the Bruche Valley

Chez Julien is a three-star hotel-restaurant located in the Bruche Valley. We’re in the Alsatian part of the Vosges, not far from the Champ du Feu ski resort. Chez Julien offers a Day Spa package to guests who are not staying at the hotel, allowing them access to the spa for a day, lunch in the spa restaurant and possibly treatments in addition.

Another option I’ve already tried is to book a Vel’Ness day at the Bruche Valley Tourist Office and enjoy a bike ride in the morning, followed by lunch at Julien’s and a spa in the afternoon. Very nice too!

Le Spa by Julien

The spa by Julien is very large and has a number of different areas:

  • indoor pool and jacuzzi
  • outdoor pool and jacuzzi
  • wellness area with sauna, sanarium (a cross between hammam and sauna in terms of temperature and humidity), Turkish bath, sensory showers (alternating hot and cold showers), salt grotto, kneipp, relaxation rooms…
  • family area, accessible to children, with swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. It matches the old spa but is still pleasant.
  • fitness room

The whole area is very beautiful, with lovely views over the surrounding Vosges countryside. Thenatural environment of the Spa by Julien is really pleasant: we’re in a green setting on the banks of the Bruche!

I spent most of my time in the wellness area, which I really enjoyed, as well as in the outdoor areas. My favorites? The salt grotto with its waterbeds (where I fall asleep every time!) and the two Jacuzzis with panoramic views.

Lunch from the Day Spa package

The meal included in the Day Spa package is served in the restaurant or Café Julien (spa restaurant), depending on the day, and includes a starter, main course and dessert. There’s a choice of two starters, two main courses and several desserts (Chez Julien is especially famous for its pies!). It’s delicious and very hearty. I ate there really well, taking advantage of a beautiful day to have lunch on the large terrace. A very pleasant moment!

  • Beautiful spa with many facilities
  • Excellent breakfast
  • View of the Vosges landscape
  • Bathrobe, slippers and towels provided
  • Nothing!
