Vacation rentals in Alsace – My favorite charming addresses
Are you looking for a gîte rental in Alsace? I know it's not always easy to find your way around the plethora of holiday rentals on offer... So here are my top gîtes in Alsace! They're all charming gîtes that I've tried out for a night and really enjoyed.
Gîtes on the Alsace Wine Route
Apartments 1834 & Spa – Rental with jacuzzi in the center of Colmar (2/4 persons)
Looking for a romantic stay in Colmar? I recommend Apartments 1834 & Spa, 11 apartments each decorated with a different theme and located in downtown Colmar. They can accommodate between 2 and 4 people. The big plus? The shared basement spa: jacuzzi, hammam and sauna await you!
Clos Bartholdi – In the heart of Colmar (2/4 persons)
Le Clos Bartholdi, with its 4 charming gîtes that can accommodate between 2 and 4 people, is located in an old 18th century house in the heart of Colmar. An ideal location because the house is in a quiet area while being in the historical center: you can do everything on foot! The apartments are well equipped, comfortable and nicely decorated with beautiful Alsatian furniture. A pleasant common lounge (with bar, library and large armchairs) is also available to guests.
Remparts of Riquewihr – Charming apartments (2 to 6 persons)
Les Remparts de Riquewihr are incredible charming gites located in the heart of the beautiful village of Riquewihr, nicknamed “The Pearl of the Vineyard”. Les Remparts de Riquewihr consists of 14 gîtes which can accommodate between 2 and 6 people and which are distributed in 3 different buildings in the center of Riquewihr. Particular care has been taken to decorate each of the apartments to make them comfortable and welcoming places: beautiful antique objects, perfect equipment, small Alsatian touches without overdoing it either… Just great!
Gîte des Histoires – Charming in Kaysersberg-Vignoble (2 to 8 persons)
The Gîte des Histoires is located in an old building in Kientzheim (commune of Kaysersberg-Vignoble). It has 3 apartments that can accommodate between 2 and 8 people, all patiently renovated with taste by their owner. The result is comfortable and charming gîtes, which immerse the guests in the warm atmosphere of Alsace without being too much. The location is also very interesting: Kientzheim is a charming wine village. It is good to stroll through its streets or go for a walk in the vineyards! Moreover, the famous Kaysersberg is only a few steps away.
Le Cube – Original architect’s house in Colmar (up to 14 persons)
Here’s another apartment for rent in Colmar, for those who love original, modern spaces. Le Cube de Colmar is located in an architect-designed house that was originally used as a company headquarters before being transformed into a seasonal rental. The volumes are incredible, the decoration very successful (in a slightly “jungle” style) and the place remarkably well equipped, down to the smallest detail. Truly comfortable! Le Cube has 3 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 14 people. What’s more, it’s ideally located, with the heart of Colmar just a few minutes away on foot.

Gîte Mon Escapade – Cocoon in the Vosges for nature lovers (2/4 persons)
I’m not going to be objective with this gîte… Since it’s mine! The gîte Mon Escapade is my weekend home, which I also rent out! It’s a small gîte in Grendelbruch, in the Bruche Valley, which sleeps 2 adults and 2 children. The location gives direct access to the hiking trails and natural beauty of the Vosges, while being just 20 minutes from the Route des Vins.
Fermes de Pinpin – Nature, charm and swimming pool (2 to 5 persons)
Les Fermes de Pinpin are self-catering cottages with swimming pool located in Labaroche, in the hills above the Kaysersberg Valley. If you’re looking for accommodation in a natural setting with superb views of the surrounding area, this is the place for you! Les Fermes de Pinpin comprises 4 different styles of accommodation for between 2 and 5 people: some are a little like lofts, with impressive volumes, but there’s also a charming farmhouse and a troglodyte house. In all cases, decoration and comfort are simply fabulous!
Gîtes d’Adelspach – Spa and relaxation weekend (2 to 8 people)
The Gîtes d’Adelspach are located in a pretty chalet in Adelspach, between Aubure and Sainte-Marie aux Mines. A less touristy area, ideal for those wishing to disconnect and enjoy the pleasures of the Massif Vosgien during their stay. The 5 apartments can accommodate between 2 and 8 people, and even 14 people if you count the extra beds that can be provided. An attractive option for groups. The big plus is the 150m2 wellness and spa area, which is on a par with many hotels: sauna, counter-current swimming pool, fitness room… Finding a vacation rental with a spa isn’t easy, but here’s a great address!
Villa Louisental – Large gîte for groups (up to 15 people)
The Villa Louisental is a large-capacity gîte, ideal for groups: it has 7 bedrooms and can accommodate 15 people. This magnificent early 20th-century house is located in Le Hohwald, near Mont Sainte-Odile and the Champ du Feu ski resort. The house is large, comfortable and very well-equipped, making it a pleasant place to stay even when there are a lot of people: you don’t feel like you’re stepping on each other, and you can enjoy beautiful communal living spaces.
Chez Louison – The calm of a mountain farmhouse (2 to 6 persons)
The Chez Louison gîtes are located in a pretty mountain farmhouse in Fréland.
Here, vineyards and mountains meet, with easy access to the Kaysersberg Valley and the Wine Route.
The two gîtes can accommodate 2 people for the first and between 4 and 6
people for the second.
The slightly rustic spirit of the farmhouse has been preserved, while adding a modern touch, making these comfortable apartments the perfect place to stay in Alsace and recharge your batteries in the heart of nature!
Les Coccinelles – Unusual wooden gites (4/5 persons)
Les Coccinelles are two self-catering cottages set in quirky wooden houses in an eco-district in Sainte Croix aux Mines. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty of architect-designed houses! The two cottages sleep 5 and 4 people respectively, and each has its own personality: huge volumes for the first, a cosy cocoon for the second; what do they have in common? Their charm, brightness and comfort!
Panorama Loft – Green and pool (2/4 persons)
If you’re looking for an unusual, peaceful gîte with a lovely swimming pool, Loft Panorama is for you! Laurence will give you a warm welcome and you’ll be able to enjoy the serenity of the place.
Nutchel – The forest vacation village (2 to 6 persons)
If you’re looking for a place to spend a weekend or a family vacation in a beautiful natural setting and love unusual accommodation, Nutchel may be just what you’re looking for! It is a “forest village” installed in Plaine, in the Bruche Valley. About thirty wooden huts have been installed on a plot of land in the heart of the Vosges forest, and it is very successful!

Gîtes in Strasbourg
The Villa de la Ganzau – An exceptional place between city and nature (2 persons)
Villa de la Ganzau is a little gem nestled in the heart of a nature reserve south of Strasbourg: it’s incredible to feel as if you’re in the middle of nature, yet downtown Strasbourg is only a short bus ride away. Two self-catering cottages can accommodate two people each: a restored former hunting lodge and pigeon loft welcome visitors. It’s comfortable and charming: ideal for a romantic weekend!

The Maison d’Hôtes du Mont is located in Morschwiller, west of Haguenau in northern Alsace. The setting is restful, and the gîtes are located in a beautifully refurbished former stable. A fabulous breakfast awaits you!
Hameau des Sens in Phalsbourg – Gîtes with private Nordic baths (2 persons)
Le Hameau des Sens is located in Phalsbourg. It’s not in Alsace but in Lorraine, but so close to the border that it makes no difference 😉 At Le Hameau des Sens, you’ll find pretty wooden chalets, each with its own terrace and private Nordic bath. What a great way to spend a romantic moment in a beautiful and unusual accommodation!
Domaine des Remparts in Sélestat – Bed and breakfast and gites (4/6 persons)
The Domaine des Remparts in Sélestat mainly offers bed & breakfast, but also has a house for 4 people and a vacation apartment for 6. A good address, especially as Sélestat is a good place to stay and visit Alsace.
