Spa at the Hotel Traube Tonbach: a relaxing day in the Black Forest

The advantage of the Black Forest? There is an incredible offer of spas... The disadvantage of the Black Forest? How to make a choice in all this offer? Don't panic, that's why we're here. I have found a little marvel located in Baiersbronn, Germany: the Spa of the Traube Tonbach hotel.

As a journalist in real life, and a blogger for pleasure, Léa has always enjoyed tracking down little-known gourmet addresses, unusual activities, off-the-beaten-track hikes and places with history and soul... And Alsace is full of them!

Like many hotels, theTraube Tonbach offers a day spa package (45 euros). And you will need a day to enjoy all their facilities: two indoor pools, two outdoor pools, two whirlpools, three saunas, two steam rooms, a (very) cold bath… Not to mention two rest rooms, a nice terrace with deckchairs and a small bar/snack bar.

Starry sky sauna at the Traube Tonbach spa

My first favorite is the Finnish sauna: with its two small windows overlooking the outside, its ceiling covered with LEDs like a starry sky and the essential oils that are diffused, it really has its charm… If the temperature, 90°, does not scare you! 😉

Second favorite is the “igloo”, located between the two hammams and the “organic sauna”. The whole room, immersed in a bluish atmosphere, is cooled. It contains an ice fountain, to be applied all over the body to facilitate the circulation after a sauna or hammam session.

For couples, with friends or family

The area with a whirlpool and a small pool, located outside, is also very cute. Finally, the decoration is very nice and there is a big effort made in terms of cleanliness. Even if it is crowded, the spa is so big and the activities so numerous that you feel in a little cocoon out of time.

In short, an ideal place for a day of relaxation, whether as lovers, with friends or with the family: children are accepted in the aquatic area and the hotel has thought of installing a changing table and some baby equipment.

It is also possible to make an appointment for massages and treatments but I did not test it. I couldn’t take many pictures : don’t forget that in Germany, you can go to the spa with your bathing suit… Or without 🙂

  • The igloo and the Finnish sauna
  • The many facilities
  • The care given to the decoration
  • The cleanliness of the premises
  • The disapproving look of the Germans when you keep your bathing suit on for saunas and hammams 😉
