Did you know there’s a campground in Strasbourg? Many people aren’t aware of it, even though it can be a great option if you’re looking for a place to stay in Strasbourg for a weekend or vacation! Like the Ill Campground in Colmar, it’s a CityKamp campground (part of the same group as Huttopia). This 4-star campground is located in the heart of the Ill-Bruche Urban Nature Park, in the Montagne Verte neighborhood—an area I often pass through when I go for bike rides near Strasbourg and that I really enjoy.

A quiet 4 star campsite in Montagne Verte
I visited the campground in the fall—not in the middle of summer—but it was still quite crowded. Yet the place has a calm atmosphere, no doubt thanks to the pleasant natural surroundings. It’s right in the heart of the Urban Nature Park, right on the water’s edge; there are lots of trees, and you can hear the birds singing… For an urban campground, I have to admit it’s very pleasant! That’s one of the things that immediately struck me when I arrived and was confirmed during my stay.
Open all year round, even during Christmas markets
The Strasbourg campground is open year-round. Yes, even in December during the Christmas market!
🎄 This is a great deal during the Christmas market, when accommodation prices in Strasbourg skyrocket.

Camping car, van, tents, chalets or trailers
You have plenty of options at the Strasbourg campground. You can reserve a site and bring your own tent, van, or RV, or you can book one of the campground’s accommodations. You can choose tents for 4 or 5 people, trailers (4 people), mobile homes (6 people) or “Montana” chalets (6 people).

A night in a Montana Chalet – Review
I spent the night in one of the Montana cottages: they are wooden cottages well equipped and have much more charm than a classic mobile home, even if the whole remains simple.
For example, the kitchen is a fully functional one, and the cabins have a wood-burning stove—which is especially nice in winter for a cozy evening… Firewood is provided—just go get some and you’re all set! I loved spending the evening by the fire; it was really cozy.
The cabins are designed to accommodate 6 people, but I think you’ll be a bit cramped if there are 6 of you—or you’ll need to plan on not spending too much time indoors. There are two bedrooms—one with a double bed and the other with a bunk bed—and the fifth sleeping spot is the living room sofa. There is also a terrace that must be nice on nice days to enjoy the outdoors!

Services offered at the Strasbourg Campground: restaurant, grocery store, and recreational activities
Common areas: restaurant, game room, and well-maintained restrooms
The common areas at the Strasbourg campground immediately catch your eye from the outside because of how well they blend into their surroundings: the structures are made of wood and are really pretty. Even the restroom facilities look great!
Inside, the dining room and game room are pleasant and bright. You immediately feel at home there and want to settle in for a drink or play one of the board games provided. It’s really well done!

Grocery Store: bread, pastries, and local organic products
The campground offers bread and pastries for breakfast, as well as some groceries for when you need a quick fix. These items are high-quality, with a focus on organic and local products. Nice!

Leisure: games, bikes and swimming pool
The campground has a heated pool that is open from May through September. There is also a playground for children.
You can rent bicycles or electric bikes.
🚲 Take advantage of bike rentals to explore Strasbourg like a local: biking is the favorite way for Strasbourg residents to get around!
You can reach the city center quickly from the campsite. To discover the surroundings of Strasbourg, you can also go for a nice ride on the bicycle path of the Canal de la Bruche, close to the campsite.

Location of the Strasbourg Campground: Montagne Verte, just a stone’s throw from downtown
The Strasbourg campsite is located in the Montagne Verte district to the west of Strasbourg. A very convenient location, as you can get to the city center quickly and still enjoy the peace and quiet. La Petite France, for example, is only 8 minutes by bike or 20 minutes by streetcar.
