The Quatzenheim Christmas market is an original concept: the market stands are set up in the courtyards of farms that are open to the public for the occasion. Quatzenheim is located in the Kochersberg, an agricultural region with many farms.
The traditional farmhouses of the Kochersberg are built in a U-shape, leaving a perfect courtyard for… hosting a Christmas market! Just think of it 😉 The courtyards of four farmhouses are decorated by their inhabitants in four different colors: red, white, blue and gold.
The farms are already beautiful “as they are, “ but the Christmas decorations and wood-burning fires set up there add an extra touch of charm, making the place feel quite magical. The atmosphere is that of a traditional Alsatian Christmas market, and it’s no wonder you’ll find many locals there enjoying this lovely family outing… As night falls, it’s simply magical!

An authentic atmosphere
Believe me, the Christmas market of Quatzenheim is one of the nicest I know! I was really amazed that such a small village could put on such a beautiful market. Of course, it’s impossible to compare it to the Strasbourg or Colmar markets in terms of size, even though it’s far from tiny. On the other hand, it’s fabulous in terms of setting, atmosphere and, above all, authenticity.
The farmhouses are the perfect setting for the Christmas market, giving it an intimate atmosphere. The exhibitors are rigorously selected and all offer quality handicrafts (not Chinese handicrafts, mind you).
What’s more, the food stalls (mulled wine, soups, pancakes, etc.) are manned by local volunteers, with all proceeds going to Quatzenheim associations. This gives you an idea of the state of mind! 🙂
In terms of entertainment, we would like to salute the choir singing Christmas carols (it puts you in the mood right away) as well as the arrival of Santa Cl aus (in person, yes!), a great moment for the children.
🚗 Local tip: The earlier you arrive, the easier it is to find parking. Parking gets crowded quickly in the evening, so don’t wait until the last minute!
