Did you know that there is a campsite in Strasbourg? Many people don’t know about it, but it can be very convenient if you are looking for a place to stay in Strasbourg for a weekend or a vacation! Like the Ill campsite in Colmar, it is a CityKamp campsite (same group as Huttopia).

For my part, I had already passed by the Strasbourg campground many times: this 4-star campground is located in the heart of the Ill-Bruche Urban Nature Park, in the district of Montagne Verte, a neighborhoodwhere I often pass by when I ride my bike near Strasbourg and that I appreciate very much. I finally had the opportunity to test it and was seduced. Here is my detailed opinion 🙂

A quiet 4 star campsite in Montagne Verte

I tested the campground in the fall, not in the middle of summer, but it was still very crowded. However, the place gives an impression of calm, probably due to the pleasant natural environment. We are in the heart of the Urban Nature Park, at the water’s edge, there are many trees and you can hear the birds singing… For an urban campground, I must admit that it is very pleasant! This is one of the points that struck me immediately upon arrival and that was confirmed during my stay.

Open all year round, even during Christmas markets

The Strasbourg campsite is open all year round. Yes, even in December during the Christmas market! This makes it a very good plan during the end of the year, when the price of accommodation in Strasbourg explodes.

Accommodations or pitches at the Citykamp in Strasbourg

Camping car, van, tents, chalets or trailers

You have a choice at the Strasbourg campsite. You can book a pitch and come with your tent, van or camper, but also book one of the campsite’s accommodations.

You can choose tents for 4 or 5 people, trailers (4 people), mobile homes (6 people) or “Montana” chalets (6 people).

A night in a Montana Chalet – Review

I spent the night in one of the Montana cottages: they are wooden cottages well equipped and have much more charm than a classic mobile home, even if the whole remains simple.

The kitchen is for example a real functional kitchen and the cottages have a wood stove, particularly pleasant in winter to spend a cocooning evening… Wood is also available, you just have to go and get it and hop! I loved spending the evening by the fire, it was really cosy.

The cottages are designed for 6 people but I think you will be a bit cramped if you are 6, or you should plan not to spend too much time inside. There are indeed two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with bunk beds, and the last bed is the sofa in the living room.

There is also a terrace that must be nice on nice days to enjoy the outdoors!

Services provided

Common areas

The common areas of the Strasbourg campsite are striking from the outside because of their integration with their environment: the structures are made of wood and are really pretty. Even the sanitary blocks look good!

Inside, the dining room and the game room are pleasant and bright. You feel good right away and you immediately want to settle down for a drink or play one of the board games available. A real success!

Grocery store

The campground offers bread and pastries for breakfast, but groceries to help you out. These are of quality, favoring organic and local products. Nice!

Leisure: games, bikes and swimming pool

The campsite has a heated swimming pool open from May to September. For children, a playground is also available.

It is possible to rent bikes or electric bikes. I can only advise you to take advantage of the bike rental to discover Strasbourg, you will really visit the city like a local: the bike is the favorite way of moving of the Strasbourgeois! You can reach the city center quickly from the campsite.

To discover the surroundings of Strasbourg, you can also go for a nice ride on the bicycle path of the Canal de la Bruche, close to the campsite.

Location of the campsite

The Strasbourg campsite is located in the Montagne Verte district to the west of Strasbourg. A very convenient location, as you can get to the city center quickly and still enjoy the peace and quiet. La Petite France, for example, is only 8 minutes by bike or 20 minutes by streetcar.
