I had a great day at theHostellerie des Châteaux hotel-restaurant and spa, a Relais & Châteaux located in Ottrott. This small Alsatian village, just 30 minutes from Strasbourg and 45 minutes from Colmar, is famous for its red wine… and now for its spa!

We love the spa

I fell in love with two of the three rest rooms. The first is entirely wooded and heated, with hay (yes, yes!) that gives off a pleasant scent. In the second, you stay cool on water mattresses, dimly lit by a wall of bluestone.

The 8 (!) saunas and 2 hammams atHostellerie des Châteaux really stand out from one another, with their decor (mountain wood, salt stones…) or the scents diffused (eucalyptus, aromatic plants). Some are quite small, like the amethyst hammam plunged into semi-darkness, but there are enough facilities to keep you alone even when it’s busy. There’s even a sauna with a small oven where you can bake and enjoy a pretzel!

The spa also includes infrared armchairs, heated seats, an outdoor pool and an indoor/outdoor pool. A little extra for families: there’s a children’s area with a relaxation room, pool, Jacuzzi and “family sauna”.

A meal package

We chose the lunch option. The service was friendly and fast, and the dishes very light and tasty. At 75 euros per person during the week, it’s still a budget, but the value for money is definitely there.
